set watever properties you want using "MyTextBox."
Add MyTextBox to panel,placeholder or to ASP Tables or any other.
eg:

I am just learning asp.net and I am doing some work for my company who has several asp.net sites already built. The particular site I am having trouble with has some codebehind files it is using. My problem is that I cannot find the aspx.vb files it is referring to. I realize that dll files are created and the site is actually using those files, but I want to look at the code it is using. Where are these files usually kept?

The files will be contained in the solution which created the DLL - if you don't have access to them - download REFLECTOR and open the DLL files with that - you can at least see what the code behind looks like even if you don't have access to the original files.

They in the project that was used to create the website. Usually they are stored in some version control system, such Visual SouceSafe, or could possibly be on the developers machine (very bad practice). Ask the person(s) who created the site.

Hi all!
Heres my problem - i have a gridview bound (via sqldatasource) to a simple table... The table consists of 2 columns, an ID column (auto increment primary key) and a NText column...
On the webpage im displaying the gridview and a simple button. When the user clicks the button a new row is created and inserted... For testing purposes, the NText field just contains a random GUID. The gridview is then rebound and it appears in the list, great, that works fine..... however, when the user clicks the "add random" button i want the row they just created to be selected!!...
so far i've got the ID of the last inserted using the Insert Indentity methodology and returning the ID field. The problem is dont seem to be able to set the SelectedKey or SelectedValue on the datagrid, all i can change is the index!!
What am i missing here??

Perhaps you should try using the selectedIndex property. Both of the SelectedDataKey and SelectedValue are readonly setting them will not affect which line is selected.

I'm trying to develop a website that uses a mixed authentication system. In other words, I need to have multiple types of users. Some users will authenticate against the database (external users), while others will need to authenticate against Active Directory. Is there a clean way to do this?

Implementing forms authentication and either using AD or database as appropriate would be the simplest way to go. You could also create a custom HTTPModule that used but that is a little more difficult.

I follow that book to do the coding, however, when I try to run it, it said "WebForm_DoCallback()" undefine...I really don't know where did I make mistake. so I wonder can you give me some suggestion?

The undefined error is javascript, Check to make sure you have defined WebForm_DoCallback() in your javascript code.

is there anything like asp.net compilation before deploying the asp.net pages to the server? so that my source codes will not be edited or visible to anybody.
Pls how do i do that.
More so my asp.net makes use of sql server 2005 database. How do i get my database to the webserver?

In the menu Build/Build Solution compiles your codebehind pages into a dll in the bin folder.

Copy over the bin folder, it will have all of your assemblies in it.
