We have referenced Excel(Interop dlls) for generating excel reports(mainly graphical) and saving it to a excel file and then sending that excel file to client. We don't have excel installed in our server machine. Is there a way by which we can make that functionality working without installing excel in Server?

I get an XML error when I try to do this from within my view, main.aspx, in Internet Explorer 6 and 7.
And it's only happening when I access the file with IE. In Firefox it is working.
The strange part is that there is no XML in the solution what so ever, none - nada!
main.aspx source:
<%@ Page Language="VB" AutoEventWireup="false" CodeFile="main.aspx.vb" Inherits="main" %>
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head>
<title></title>
<script src="dynamic.js.aspx" type="text/javascript"></script>
</head>
<body>
<h1>test</h1>
</body>
</html>
dynamic.js.aspx source:
<%@ Page Language="VB" %>
Response.AddHeader("Content-Type", "text/javascript")
'Response.setContentType("text/javascript")
alert("js!");
-------------------
What is wrong and how do I fix it?
Thank you.

A seperate include file does not get parsed by ASP.NET. You have one line of js there and three syntax errors. The VB code would not work, even if it was inline, because it's totally out of place. You put js in a js file, ASP.NET is not involved.

Oh, I was being sloppy when I created this thread.
In main.aspx, the link to the javascript file should read "dynamic.js.aspx"

I was working on a bi-lingual asp.net site.. i have a label(lblmessage) to show messages. I have 2 messages to be shown there( if the process is successfull, the a sucess message should be shown else error message should be shown. I have added two string values in resx files
success and failure. I have two languages resource files(default.aspx.resx and default.aspx.fr.resx) I have given the values for success and failure in both files.
During run time how can i show the message from the resource files? i have the current selected language in session object as session["language"].
plz help
thanks and regards

Read the MSDN documentation. Session["language"] will not cut it.
Also you need to know the difference between a global and a local resource, as they as handled differently.
From what I can see, you are using local resources (they are bound to a page or control). There are 2 ways to do it:
1. Use VS to generate it (all the stuff is added).
2. Use Resource expressions.
Note: Global resources you can access via Resources.ResourceName.Property .

Can any one tell how to set a HTML control in a page as DefaultButton
Im getting below error
The DefaultButton of 'form1' must be the ID of a control of type IButtonControl.
Thanks in advance
|
|
|
|
|
you can set it in the form tag
|
|
|
|
|
Your element set as the DefaultButton is not a button (did you add runat=server? ).

Did you attach your JavaScript debugger to determine if there is a client side scripting anomaly?

Hi,
I'd like to create a new control that can be added in the same way that other asp controls can be added to a page. e.g. as below.
<asp:Panel ID="newPanel" CssClass="newClass" runat="server"></asp:Panel>
I cannot for the life of me find any documentation on doing this. Could someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks!

What do you mean by
Jon81 wrote: that can be added in the same way that other asp controls
You want them to be added at runtime??
|
|
|
|
|
I'd like to be able to add them both in the html and in the code like any other control.
Excuse my lack of technical knowledge but what do you mean by runtime?

Well you can add them into a document that has html code in it but if you put an asp.net control in a page you have to have an extension of .aspx for that page
Jon81 wrote: what do you mean by runtime?
runtime basically means when the application runs i.e. on the fly

Hi,
I am new to this. I dont know whether I am posting this in the correct forum or not. But pls take some time to read this. I am starting to do a new project which is a sort of data entry application. The template for the data entry is very big. It has 21 columns and more than 300 rows. The template will be something like this:
EXP1 EXP2 EXP3 EXP4 EXP5 EXP6 EXP7 EXP8 ... EXP21
COMPANY1
PROD1
PROD2
PROD3
PROD4
COMPANY2
PROD1
PROD2
PROD3
PROD4
...
COMPANY3
PROD1
PROD2
PROD3
..
where exp1,exp2,exp3.. are different expenditures for the product in the company. I have to load this template on every form load and save the details in the database. I am wondering how can we do this. What would be the best way to acheive this functionality in ASP.NET.
Any suggestions of yours is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your time and help.
Regards,
SV
