What kinda query? Do you mean operation like search etc...
peacefulmember wrote: Once the page is loaded, limited users can pull this information with a click on client side to see.
Its upto you weather you want a client click or server click
As far as limited users are concerned, check for the permissions of the user.
But as the information is at server, you need to make a server call.

By queries I meant all the queries excuted to render one page. In my aplication one page is generated with multiple queries. Thus, I want user to click on a button (which I have on every page) and then see all the queries executed to build that page.
I am not clear how a server call can help? These queries are neither stored on the database side nor I want to save it in a file or in database. I would like to achieve this by keeping it in memory or stream etc.
I was thinking on either saving the sqls in javascript or was also thinking on lines of TraceListener. I am just not sure how? Anybody has better approach, please suggest with a solution.
Thanks

I'm trying to add spam and abuse reporting functionality to my app, I basically have a link with the text 'Report this post' that should be changed to 'Thank you' when clicked by the user, it should call a page in my app (silently) and send it the post id. I find ASP.NET Ajax too much for this very simple scenario, I have no server controls, it's just a link (I'm not an expert in Ajax but I read a little about UpdatePanel and didn't like it very much esp. the complete postback part, Page_Load .. etc). Any suggestions how this can be done without ASP.NET Ajax? Thanks

ASP.NET AJAX just wraps the java script code into built-in controls. You can always write simple JS code that does AJAX call. Check this[^]

I have a weird session problem that seems to only happen in firefox and safari but not in IE.
Basically when the user logs in, the sessions are created. The weird part is, if they select the products page the session is lost in firefox but not in works in IE. It seems to be just this page that losses the sessions variables in firefox. If i stay within the logged in account section, and view my profile, orders, etc the session stays in tact.
Any suggestion or ideas that would cause this issue? I am using master templates, and the session state is InProc.

Intresting i never heard such issue with browser,
We can have issues like UI,CSS or client side scripts but the sessions are going to store at server side, How come browsers can affect State management at server side ?
Let me know the fix for this issue, whenever you fixed it
Thanks and Regards

Hi,
I currently have a series of user controls on a page which individually have their own validation controls and summarys. However when the client side validation occurs on a control that is towards the bottom of the page, the page then scrolls to the top, even though the validation summary is displaying the messages at the top of the user control back at the bottom of the page.
Is there anyway to prevent this scrolling from occuring as it will obviously confuse the users somewhat!
Thanks

We have viewstate enabled at present, this would not affect my problem as the page has not posted back at this point as the validation occurs client side.
Thanks for the suggestion though

If you set:
ShowMessagebox = true
Showsummary = false
The page wont scroll to the top

At the site Casa.Sapo.pt we use Resource files to store texts for internationalization (one with the portuguese texts and another with the english texts) and we are considering using a HashTable, a Dictionary or a class directly containing strings.
In the first performance tests, i simply accessed the text's references into a String reference. The results were these:
- Resources: 1238 ms
- HashTable: 1910 ms
- Dictionary: 1968 ms
- Class of Strings: 12 ms
As expected, all took 100+ times more time to access the strings than the class with the Strings. But in here came the first strange result. The HashTable performed better than the Dictionary, which i find extremely strange.
Then, i tested loading user controls which access strings (a combination of inline accesses "<%%>", using ASP:Literal.Text and others). Now came the really strange results:
- Resources: 150 ms
- HashTable: 146 ms
- Dictionary: 256 ms
- Class of Strings: 227 ms
Everything is completely «wrong»... User controls accessing the class of String (by a long far the fastest) now is one of the slowest??? The HashTable performs better than all the rest??? The Dictionary, that should be faster than the HashTable, is the exact oposite, it is the slowest!?
Can anyone try to explain these strange results? I can't seem to make any conclusion out of these results because i don't understand what is happening to give such strange results and i am left clueless as to if i can really substitute the usage of Resource files to handle internationalization.
Windows is just as secure as Linux (when shielded with a Firewall, Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware and disconnected from the Internet). Windows has even better performance than Linux (when running without Firewall, Anti-Virus and Anti-Spywayre).

Are you saying DropDownList ?
aspdotnetuser wrote: now i would like to call javascript function on selected index change and value store in variable
Yes you can do it just have a javascript function which will get called on OnChange Event of drop down
Register it
mDrpCounties.Attributes.Add("onchange", "JavascriptFunctionName();")
If you want to have selected value at the server side use Hidden Varaibles for that
Thanks and Regards

Not sure what is it ? Are you saying DropDownList
Then dropdownlist can have items/Options not table
aspdotnetuser wrote: now on selected index change i open a new page and fill on selected index chnage value which i will store in ddl how can i call javascript to sent vale and open a new page.
Here you will have to find two things
1.As i said in last post register a javascript function that will get called OnChange event of drop down.
Now in that function write a javascript code to get the selected value
use a var to store that value (Hidden field not required).
2.Use Window.Open to open new window pass the stored value using Query String.
Now Take help of google to have these things done
1. Calling Javascript function on DropDown selected index changed
2. Javascript code for getting selected value.
3. How to open new window using javascript and passing Query String
These is how you will get to learn try to do yourself now
Thanks and Regards

hi all,
i am using Visual Studio 2005.
i have to associate the values retrived from the database according to an Sql Select command with the radiobutton list.
Please can anyone help me out with it...
|
|
|
|
|
If you are using sqlDataSources you can use a ControlParameter to associate a control to a sql parameter
If you are writing your code to retrieve the records, just use the radiobuttonlist.selectedvalue in your query

I'd guess that 'sys' is undefined. Do you have code to show us ?

There are many reasons to get this error
One of them is Javascript error will come when Your Config file does not have proper Configuration for AJAX

Good luck. Depending on how well formed your HTML is, this can become a herculean task.

Hi friends,
i have created test case for checking the visibility and enable/disable functionality in a form. This works fine with the asp.net pages and controls
my current project is with asp and the controls are html controls so
the id attribute is missing.
whenever i run the test it says NUnit.Extensions.Asp.WebAssertionException : couldn't find web form's 'id' attribute
so can anyone tell me how to check the above mentioned functionality for html controls.
Thanks In Advance,
Praveen
