I wish to enable/disable the button that moves to the next page in a wizard. I want it initially disabled, then enable it based on a user choice (checkbox acknowledging terms) in the wizard step.
Also, I have other controls I wish to change when the checkbox is changed. Lastly, I only wish to update those few controls and not the entire page.
I started by wrapping the checkbox and other controls to change in an UpdatePanel. This solved my "only update necessary controls" issue. But, I couldn't update the wizard button. So, I wrapped that button in a separate UpdatePanel and updated it from by Checkbox_CheckedChanged function.
This all works fine (only updating necessary controls, enabling/disabling Next button correctly) except that the button to move to the next wizard step no longer works. I presume this is becuase it is wrapped in an UpdatePanel. It appears to actually generate the data for the next steps/pages (hits the database, etc.), but it just doesn't update the page.
Let me see if I can include some meaniningful code:

why dont you use client end javascript to do this job...
just use

I am a new one to ASP.NET. I have to do a project as part of my studies. I preferred ASP.NET and I like to make a web site like Orkut (A social networking site). I consulted a web developer and he says that I should host the proposed project for it to be working.
I want to complete it in ASP.NET without hosting and I just want to show the demo to the examiner. Please reply whether I can demonstrate the project to a person without hosting it.

You have various ways to do you project for your studies
1.Yes you need to have a atleast internet connection to your computer in which you are developing you website just host the website in localhost.
secondly you can use a teamviewer software which help you to connect to your computer which is there in your house and you can see desktop of your computer in your examiner system or laptop but you need to install the software in both systems (in your house and as well as in your examiner systems) when you connect this software it creates a unique session where you can show your home desktop in your examiner laptop and show the project that you have created

Don't shout, that is just as rude. Now, to your question. You don't need to have a webhost for a demo, just use IIS locally.

The odds of you writing a site like Orkut appear to me to be hovering around zero.
You can host it locally, but, of course, no-one can see it, so it will be hard to prove it works when the point of it will be having a number of users interacting with each other. You sure can't prove your site will work in the sense of being written to handle concurrent users, etc, that way, unless people on a LAN all connect to your machine as a web server for the test.

Hi,
i'm using drawing.printing in winforms and recently i've implemented it to one of my ASP.NET projects.
on the first look when i ran it on the Webdev.Webserver (created instance by the VS2008) the printing worked great.
when i used it on the IIS, 6 or 7, it stopped with error on user permissions.
after restarting the IIS with the same User as the Webdev.Webserver using, the IE just get stuck with no error exception - just looping until i stop it.
does anyone know how can i work it out ?!?

No that's not the best link. It's not AJAX, it is talking about AJAX toolkit developed by Microsoft for ASP.NET applications. AJAX is just javascript and this[^] is a good beginer level tutorial which talks about AJAX.

You can do it by installing a Asp.net Ajax toolkit which is available from microsoft website which is free to download and install if you are using asp.net 2.0 or visual studio 2005 after installing this small utility you will see a new option comes when you select a new web site from a file menu and there you can select AJAX ENABLED WEBSITE.
you will also see some new tools in your toolbox like update panel and script manager just using this two things you can build your website ajax enabled

Hi,
First set a break point where you read the data from the QueryString and see whether it retuns the parsed data. (Note: Just check if the Querystring key you use ie: "Id" and "status" has the same spelling as from where you are parsing from.)
Also another hint is just parse these values manually to the Query and see whether its working..
And when adding the values to the parameter you could simply use
updatecmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("@apid, theapiid); Just some additional infor...
And assigned the value you retrive from ExecuteNonQuery to int variable and check if its greater than 0 before going for the next line...
And others seems to be fine...

I've decompiled a pre-compiled ASP.NET web site, and on the whole it is looking good, except for three pages. In the compiled site, each page has a reference to the assembly that contains its code behind class, e.g.
<%@ page language="C#" autoeventwireup="true" inherits="Staff.UserList, App_Web_t89rsyw_" %>
where App_Web_t89rsyw is the assembly that the page was compiled to. Now I have three different pages that point to exactly the same class, and it seems to only apply to one of the pages, i.e. only one of them has controls on it that match the code in the decompiled class.
This doesn't look like an attempt at obfuscation, because everything else is glaringly accessible and clear. It looks like maybe the site as I have been given it is broken. Is there any explanation for many pages sharing one code behind class?

I have a problem with ASP.NET and AJAX. I try to post a form in async postback but when I do this in firefox the newlines are \n and in IE they are \r\n which creates a problem when displaying it on the site. I need to replace every \n which is not preceded by \r but how do I do that? This does not happen in normal postback, then all newlines are \r\n.

This looked promising: [^\r]\n it matches any character but \r before \n (I think) but the problem is it also replaces that character...
