Show Modal Popup Using Javascript

You should ask this in the WPF forum, ASP.NET has nothing to do with WPF. I can't answer your question without asking more, so if you ask in the right forum ( I am hoping you've not just spammed the whole site already ), I will ask there.

Hi all,

I have to display a modal popup on the click of a link button. the link button is inside the gridview and I have to pass the Id of the dataItem bound to the selected row to the modal popup. This I had successfully achieved using codebehind. But,now I am not suppose to write any server side code for this,hence I have show the modal popup using javascript.What I have tried uptil now is,

This is working properly but the modal popup does not wait to get the user response,it just disappears immediately.I want it to wait till the user clicks any button on the modal popup,as it happens in case of other modal popups.Any idea how can I achieve this.

Place the gridview inside an update panel and that should resolve the issue.

Hi guys

First : I have two asp.net pages
The first one is Default.aspx and it contain links like this:

And thes second dete.aspx contain AJAX Accordion1 and it shown like this:

Now ,the question is how to pass the the number of the link in the first page to the second page?

Because I want to pass the number of the link in Default.aspx to dete.aspx and put it SelectedIndex ="Here".

So when I Press on the first link "Flights Events" (Default.aspx) it should be go to the second page and open AccordionPane1 (dete.aspx)

And when I press on the link Games & fun (Default.aspx) it should open the AccordionPane2 in (dete.aspx)

You can use QueryString.

QueryString is a <name=value> pair that you can pass in your URL.

eg. www.<url>.com/Default.aspx?var1=1

when you click the above link, it will open the Default.aspx page and you will a QueryString variable which you access and use it's value on Default.aspx page

On Default.aspx page_load event, do this,

dim xyz as string = Request.QueryString("var1")

this will put 1 in xyz on page load.

Hope this will solve your problem.

Your question is not clear. Do you want to restrict users accessing websites until they fill the form? If yes, ASP.NET is not the obvious tool for that.

I am going to setup a host spot. So i want to limit there access to the internet until they fill the form. Then they get access to the internet. Its like when you go into a starbucks and have to pay for internt. I am just not going to charge just want to collet some info.
I guess you could call it a captive portal. Another example is when you go to a hotel and use there wifi. You have accept the aggremment then you can surf the web.

Well, As I said, ASP.NET is not the correct tool for that. There will be third party applications out there and it is better to use them rather than reinventing the wheel.

I'm not sure what you mean, but masterpages allow you to design a part of your page that stays constant, and define areas that change for each page.

OK, let's explain more.
In PHP we can separate PHP code from HTML codes with a Template Engine.
With this ability we can change a website's template easily and without changing the PHP codes.
For example Smary[^] is a great PHP template engine.
We design HTML codes in some files and load them in PHP codes.

ASP.NET also has themes, but the HTML is already seperated from the code in ASP.NET, that's how it works. A well designed site, you should be able to restyle the ASPX files without having to touch the code behind.
