the document is not in our application folder and what namespaces exactly should we import???

One of the first things that comes to mind is security problems. Since you have tested the code to be working with Win Forms.
Check if :
a) The ASP.NET System account has enough permissions to perform a mail merge.
b) The path to the word document can be accessed by the ASP.NET App (check folder permissions)
if still u'r problem exist then save u'r file temporarly on local system with default path. and then open it from default path.

Hi everybody, I'm SPIKE. A couple of weeks ago I downloaded the Popup menu from this site. It works fine, but I'm having some problems with the dropdownlist control. You should ask on the forum that is associated with the article. Some menu controls just do that, I moved to a different one to overcome the problem. It's a common problem for that sort of menu.

I am using a datalist to easily display my data in 7 columns, but I can't seem to get the alignment correct. After a few tries i opened up the HTML and found border-collapse:collapse in the table's style. I used IE7s DevToolBar DOM viewer to remove it on the fly and everything looks and works great. So now my question is how do I get ASP.NET not to add it? I have tried using a CssClass, but the class option gets overwrote by the inline one. Thanks for any help.

i took a piece of code that i had from a web app that basically showed a video. on this site, i was running .net 1.1. Now that i have finally upgraded to .net 2.0, i thought, well maybe the code can be the same. i was wrong. i placed this code:

For some reason, all of my stylesheet is gone and images that i have on the page is gone. the video does not show up. Is this a .NET 2.0 reason. i have been researching this issue and have not found anything.
PLEASE HELP!!!

This code is going to go straight to the browser, the version of .NET won't matter at all. This is not ASP.NET code, it's just HTML and script.

Hello-
A bit new to this ASP.NET thing, so go easy on me if this is a stupid question. Tried searching on the topic, but didn't have any luck....
I've got a site where I've enabled the membership and role providers - everything works fine. My question is this - is there an ideal way to restrict content based on role membership? I've tried using the LoginView control, except some of my users may belong to multiple roles and this control only picks up on the first matching role. Should I be approaching this differently?

Sorry, should have been more descriptive. I'm trying to show/hide content on an actual page itself.
My example:
I have 3 roles - Admin, Stakeholder, ProjectManager. I have a nav pane that shows available options for each role. I'd like to hide options not available to users that aren't a part of that specific role. I don't want ProjectManager role members to see the options available to Stakeholder role members, and vice versa.
Is there an accepted method for doing this? Ideally I could redirect upon login , to seperate pages (Admin to an admin.aspx page, Stakeholder to stakeholder.aspx page, etc.), but I don't think one can do that....

you can use the RoleProvider.IsUserInRole Method [^].This function returns a boolean indicating if the user is in a specifed role or not and the you show your options based on the boolean for example

I have a solution that has 3 projects. One of them is serving as Class Library project (technically its a ASP.NET Web Application Project but it only contain classes).
Where would be the best place to store all the connection strings?
1- GCL.config file?
I could use ConfigurationManager class to access the connection strings
or
2- Global.resource file?
I could reference it directly GlobalResources.MyConnectionString.ToString();
Just trying to find out the best practice Thanks.

I think the best and common practice is to store the connection string in the config file.
You can also use Aspnet_setreg to store and encrypt credintails in the registery [^]

Actually, you didn't.
People have already written millions of words about the differences. There is not any reason to repeat any of it again, just because you (tried to) ask for it. You can find a lot about it if you search, here, in your favourite search engine, or why not get it from the horses mouth; go and see what Microsoft has to say about it.

I am building a website that contains some nodes in the sitemap that I don't wish to display in the treeview for the navigation, however I do want to let them show up in the breadcrumb or at least the parent of the node. Is this possible to achieve in asp.net 2.0 ?

Hi All..
I have an form that shows products and their descriptions, prices and their images, I save the images URLs in the database i.e.: I store this in database:
but when i show it in the datagrid it shows the text itself, and does not perform its HTML...
