PDFs are compressed, to turn that into something intelligible is a lot of work. Even uncompressed, they are complicated, and not jsut text. There's not even a guarentee that any sentence you see rendered on the screen will appear complete within the text of the uncompressed PDF.

Hi All
Iam facing an issue while trying to run a function inside a datagrid template column. here is my issue:
Code:
<asp:templatecolumn headertext="Net Total">
<itemtemplate> <%# GetAmount(Container.DataItem("Qty"),Container.DataItem("price"))%>

Error:
Cast from type 'DBNull' to type 'Decimal' is not valid.

My issue is that the first time i enter the page, the price and qty are null.
I want to be able to enter the page normally to add price and to calculate total.
Any suggestions...

If you want to enter the value manually why do you set it equal to the data container?

If you want to do it this way then the data container, ie the dataset/table whatever, would have to have the schema set from the DB (which you can do with DataAdapter.FillSchema) or set from the code to contain the fields so that it will find those columns. Then I would suggest that the "GetAmount" function accept the 2 values as Objects in the signature then check for If Not IsDBNull(Object1) etc... then if they are null return something like 0.00 if not then return the value.

Dear All,
i am making web application using asp.net ,C# (Visual studio 2005).
i am making data entry form using gridview and detailview(for inserting , editing ,deleting). i am filtering gridview record using dropdownlist.and in case, there is no record of corresponding value.
i have given link to add new record by using detailView on other page. my problem is whenever there is no record. detail view only show insert and cancel(command), does not show all the field(entry field)
Even though i have made defultMode of detailview insert and Autogeneraterows true.
where i am going wrong. Please help

Adding Subreport in a Subreport in crystal reports

I am coverting a report made in Access Application which contains subreports within subreports.The nesting is upto five levels deep.As Crystal reports do not allow adding of subreports within subreports,how do i deal with it.

Is there some other way to deal with the problem.Any suggestions and help will be appreciated.

IIS is complaining about ASP.NET. Event viewer error 1003

I have to restart the IIS(corporate policy) after deploying an app on it. After restarting the IIS the applications don't respond for 15-20 mins and the follwoing error in logged in event viewer.

Error message from the Event Viewer:
The description for Event ID ( 1003 ) in Source ( ASP.NET 1.1.4322.0 ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. The following information is part of the event: 6092, 180.

Problem magically disappear after 15-20 mins and things work just fine. It looks like IIS can catch hold of ASP.NET framework for 15-20 after restart.

Can someone help please?
I want solve this stupid problem.

i created the Login Control using Asp.net with asp.net membership concept,i am getting this follow mess.

unable to start debugging on server.debugging failed bcoz of integrated windows authentication is not enabled.

I have created a new web application seperately but not in project.it was just a trial form i am doing

i again created new application usind asp.net membership option.
now i am getting this new error:

Go to IIS, and find your application directory. Right click and choose PROPERTIES. Click the DIRECTORY SECURITY tab. Click EDIT and check the INTEGRATED WINDOWS AUTHENTICATION box. Also click on the ASP.NET tab and verify that the correct .NET version is selected.

Nothing works in C#, your code runs on the client, and so needs to be javascript, if it's to interact directly with a control. You can't make text underlined in a text box in the browser, there are controls that do it, but the basic textbox does not. This is also true for Windows forms, as it happens.

What exactly do you want to do ?

i m confused by the statement that nothing works in C# .. but it does allow me to write a code behind the button that i wana use on my asp.net page ....so y java script??

Your code behind runs on the server and can run business logic for you. But, C# code does not run on the client, javascript does. So, the interaction of form elements can be defined in C# only to the degree that the framework exposes C# properties which get turned into javascript code for you.

I need to have a base page class for all my web pages, this page must have an instance to a DAL class to handle its DB requestes ...

How Can I achive that in a scalabel, clean way ...

Hi,
So i think you have already written a Data Access class. Just inherit that class from Page class. All the functionality of page class will be inherited. Now you can add classes, inherited from this new class (DAL), now having all the functionality of Page class and your Data access class.
Hope i understood you correctly.

The DAL is in a separate layer. You should not have a DAL class inherit from the Page class. The DAL is a separate class.

The structure should be:

class CommonApplicationPage : Page 
{
    protected TheDalClass dal;
}
 
class SpecificPage : CommonApplicationPage 
{
}
