<asp:TemplateField >
<ItemTemplate>
<uc2:MyControl ID="MC1" runat="server" EnableViewState ="true" causevalidation="false" CommandArgument='<%# CType(Container, GridViewRow).RowIndex %>' CommandName='<%# Eval("JWord") %>' OnBubbleCommand="gvMeaning_RowCommand"/>
</ItemTemplate>
</asp:TemplateField>
<asp:TemplateField >
<ItemTemplate>
<asp:LinkButton ID="lb1" Text='<%# Eval("JWord") %>' runat="server" CommandArgument='<%# CType(Container, GridViewRow).RowIndex %>' CommandName='<%# Eval("JWord") %>'></asp:LinkButton>
</ItemTemplate>
</asp:TemplateField>

Is your control databound ? Do you bind the data again on postback ?

Yes ..i bind it again on postback!
|

EVery time you bind, all viewstate is lost. Bind in a if(!IsPostback) block, to only bind on first load, and then your viewstate will not be lost.

Hi ,
My requirement is to display Japanese words and its meaning in a gridview.
Each alphabet(Chinese kanji) of the japanse word has its own meaning.So if a user click any one of the alphabet of the word it should display the meaning of that alphabet and few words which uses that particular alphabet. so i made a user control in which i dynamically loading the LinkButton to display the word. So one word constitute a group of "LinkButton". It work fine at initiall page load event but unfortunately it is not working postback event and also not working the RowCommand event.
Please help me..Looking forwar to hear from you..Thanks in advance

Hi,
We purchased a billing management software application, Time Live by Livetecs. We bought the source code.
The program is in ASP.NET / VB.NET, it uses Component One Tools for its reporting.
We have been able to modify the code quite a bit to get this program where it needs to be with one detail that we just cannot figure out.
We need a report that pulls data from two tables or vues, one is the time entry table and the other is the expense entry table.
We need the report to show expenses along with time for each day on one report.
We are looking for someone expierenced with Visual Studio 2008 and Component One Reports to assist us.
If this is you, contact me at fenhow@yahoo.com and we can discuss the project.
I can send the full source code and we can negotiate price.
Thanks.

Hi all:
I am a project manager for a large (very) project. I am assigned the task of creating plain text version of web pages by removing <> and send to legal dept for review. Is there an automated way to do this ? The number of documents is very large - in excess of 1000. Thank you.

You could do this with a regex and with C# code ( this is not an ASP.NET question ) that requests each page and then writes the text. One would hope there's an easy way to discover the 1000 pages, perhaps by adding code that finds and pursues links ?

*grin* I was just reading through the forums and thinking you seem especially bitter this morning. Most of the questions are ridiculous, but still, have you had a bad day, or are you just worn down by the flood of homework questions ?

I'm so misunderstood. I let my creative flair govern my replies, not my mood.
Ok, I admit it, I have no creative flair. However I also have almost no emotion so i don't think it has anything to do with my mood. I can't really explain, maybe it has mostly to do with how I interpret, or read between the lines of, the loser posts. Interpreting text messages is fairly inaccurate due to the lossieness. No expressions, body language, tone.

Then I'm not sure you are allowed to use these forums.

Don't you have a staff of developers that know how to do this? I mean if you don't, why does the company need a project manager?
jenni2008 wrote: Is there an automated way to do this ?
Yes. I highly recommend using computers and software as a means of automating the task.

I use the following script. Put it in a file called RemoveTags.txt and execute from MS-DOS prompt
C:/biterScripting/biterScripting.exe RemoveTags.txt dir("<project dir="">") files("*.html")
If you really have 1000 documents, it may take a while.
Hope this helps. (If you don't have biterScripting, goto biterScripting.com -> download)
Patrick
# START OF SCRIPT
var str files # patterns for file names
var str dir # dir where entire project is
# Collect a list of files
var str fileList
find -rn $files $dir > $fileList
# Process files one by one
while ( $fileList <> "")
do
# Get the next file
var str file
lex "1" $fileList > $file
# Read the file contents into a variable.
var str content
cat $file > $content
# Remove all <> tags
while ( { sen -r "^<&>^" $content } > 0 )
sal -r "^<&>^" "" $content > null
# All <> are now removed in this one file. $content has the modified content.
# sen = string enumerator, sal = string alterer, & = regular expression that matches any number of
# any characters. <&> means, heck find out help pages.
# If you want to remove empty lines, do in a loop like above, sal "^\n\n^" "\n" $content > null
# Get the file name without the ending .html, etc.
stex "[^.^l" $file > null
# stex means string extractor. l means last instance. [ means, ... heck find out from the help pages.
# Add .txt extension to file name.
set $file = $file + ".txt"
# Write the modified content to the .txt file.
echo -e "DEBUG: Writing file " $file
echo $content > { echo $file }
done # end of do after while ( $fileList <> "")
# All text version are now availabel in corresponding .txt files in the same directories for
# the 1000 of your files.

Hi folks,
I am breaking my head since two days.
Here is the scenario.
I have a user control with first name,last name,gender.Now i put this control in web page called employee.aspx.
I have a button on that page "Add employee".for each click on that button i should add one user control.
I tried in so many ways like taking for loop and adding user control but its not retaining state.It's loosing previous controls data.
Please suggest me best approach with some sample code.
Thanks in advance

You need to add the controls in page_init for viewstate to be restored. One way to do this is to use a hidden control to store the number of controls needed, and use a known naming protocol. Another is to have a finite number of possible employees and to show them rather than create them. A third is to store the data from the controls as text data such as XML, in a hidden control, and then use that to recreate/repopulate your controls.

Hi,
How do I apply my custom stylesheet to a master page so that it can be used across all pages that uses the master pages irrespective of where this page is located?
Thanks

The same way you'd do it in HTML.
"Why don't you tie a kerosene-soaked rag around your ankles so the ants won't climb up and eat your candy ass..." - Dale Earnhardt, 1997 ----- "...the staggering layers of obscenity in your statement make it a work of art on so many levels." - Jason Jystad, 10/26/2001

The easiest is to create a theme and put the css file in it. Use the theme in the master page, and it will correctly add a link to the css file regardless of where the content page is.
Despite everything, the person most likely to be fooling you next is yourself.
