Server.MapPath(); no, not this one.
what i mean is i have a free ASP.NET host. I can only access the control panel and ftp. But i don't know where they put the wwwroot directory.
I want to know where they put the directory path of wwwroot so that i can put the connection string on the webconfig file.

I mean this too,
try this:
create a simple aspx page with this code on page_load:
Response.Write(Server.MapPath(""));
then upload the aspx page on your free host, and browse it and see your result.

I have got 2 panels on my page,Say,
Panel1 with DefaultButton Button1,ValdationSummary1 and some textboxes.
Here same validation group is assigned to Button1 & ValdationSummary1
Panel2 with DefaultButton Button2,ValdationSummary2 and some textboxes.
Here also same validation group is assigned to Button2 & ValdationSummary2
On pressing Enter key,if I am in panel1 ,it is supposed to execute Button1_Click(), but here it is not even firing any event. And even after clicking on Button1, it is showing me ValidationSummry2's error messages(i.e. textboxes in panel2 are blank.)
However, it works without the Validation summary controls.But I cant remove them from the page for some reason.
Now, what I want to do is,in whichever panel I am working in, On pressing Enter key,it should fire that particular panels' default button's click event & should not check the validations in another panel.
Can anyone please suggest me,how can I achieve this...

Hi all ,
I want to prepare my custom control which inherits from grid control
The control must bind the data at runtime where no of columns can be unknown and also i want to hide some columns,depending on the user input[property set].
There are also many things to be done like some times use tree control inside it.
If double click on any row open a new .aspx page set by user and transfer that row content to that page[parent/child].
Please provide me link where i can find detail docs for this as i hv tried searching on google but cant find the relevant.

Hi Experts,
I'm trying to compare if in List(A) an object exists in List(B) then do not populate in 2nd ListBox but I don't know how the logic goes as, if i use the code below it compares i know where went wrong.. but I don't know how to solve this, the problem is that if the record in database is "1" and in List(A)= "2" it will add then exist the For Loop, not checking the 2nd Record in Database which may be "1" Can anyone tell me how to go about solving this? thanks in advance! Hi,
In an ASP.NET 3.5 application am trying to align submenu horizontally, my application loads data from XML file. By calling below css class i am able to achieve the purpose in Mozilla but the same is not working for IE:

Is there any other way to do this or how can we make it work for IE.Plesae suggest a way out.

Hi.
I have a WebUserControl that has an HTML textBox ( <Input ... )(Client Side)
I have an Event in my userControl (Text_Changed)(Server Side)
Now, I need to be fired my Text_Changed event when the text of the HTML textBox changed.
How can I do it?

You can't. A server control is needed for server events. but, to do so, is utterly retarded, because your page will do a postback every time you type.

I have a MasterPage with an asp:Table on it. The last row of the table contains the ContentPlaceHolder.
When the whole content is less then the height of the page I would still like to expand my table to the full height of the page. Setting the height of the table (Height="100%") does not seem to do anything.
I've tried creating a simple html table in a simple html page and setting the height="100%". It works just fine, but not in ASP.NET.
Any ideas how I could achieve this?

Check if you have given any size in pixels in that page.
If so change that to %

hello , I'm developping an application with asp(C#) and for the database I use MYSQL5.
I dont know how it work, it s the first time that I use mysql with asp. so I need some suggestions to impliment my solution.
In code project, I found an exemple that made the database(install my sql connector for .net) and create some stored procedures to get and set data , and some objet to do the relationship.
so I demande if it's an other way tell me and say if it's better.

MySQL with ASP.NET is not at all a bad combination. It worked well when I tried for one of our high traffic website. You have to use the MySQL connector provided from MySQL. It is optimized to give good performance with MySQL database.

Did you add a reference to your webservice?
If not, right click your project and select "Add Web Reference" or "Add Service Reference" and point to your web service. Then you can call the method the web service exposes from your page(s).

1.) Run your webservice get the URL (Example: http://localhost/webservice.asmx)
2.) Go on your project
- Right Click > Click on "Add WebReference" > Paste the URL you got from your webservice
3.) Add ?wsdl behind if you want to see the arguments and methods on your webservice (Example: http://localhost/webservice?wsdl

On the PostBackURL of a button I've typed in the code show below. The problem is that it is not replacing 'Request.Params("customersid")' with the actual value. How can I tell it to pass the value of the request.params?

It is because the PostbackURL property is a string and your code is taken as a simple string.
Try doing it in the code on the OnClick event, something like this:
...
Server.Transfer("~/customerfind.aspx?parentcustomerid=" + Request.Params["customersid"] + "&returntype=5";

Hi,
This is the setup i have -
I have a layout with server controls (textbox for email entry).
I have a webpart which has a Submit button. This button has an onClick handler that does stuff serverside. It also needs to have a onClientClick scrupt that validates the email entered in the textbox on the layout.
Since the button is in the webpart i had to add the email validaiton javascript in the webpart. Now, I am having problems accessing the email textBox control (thats in th elayout) in the webpart javascript.
I tried using the txtEmail.ClientId but that is giving me error -
The name 'txtEmail' does not exist in the current context.
If I move the validation and the button to the layout then i can't have the onclick ..
Any ideas how i can get access to the control on the layout ?
