I am unable to use soap header encryption and decryption.....
The problem is to secure a web service we need authontication and we send username and password to webmethod using soap header which is passsed to the network in a plain text and any hacker who cares the network can see the user id and password and easily use the web service so we need to encrypt the username and password before sending to network and later before calling the method we decrypt it by using appropriate method...........
if you have code to do that pls help me
Thanks in advance

In may asp.net application I present a pdf file to the user who enters some data into it and on pressing an HTMLSubmit button on the pdf document posts the data back to an asp.net page where I am able to capture it as formdata using
Request.Form.Item(n) ...
However I have the follwing queries :
1. Can I capture the postback data through the names of the text fields that I have given on my pdf document.
2. Can I capture the post back data in XML format by putting a normal button whose setting are (Control Type:Submit, Submit Format:XML & Submit to URL: the name of the aspx page)?
Kindly help how this can be achieved.
Thanking you in advance

My asp.net application is ajax enabled. After the page is loaded completely, if there is no user activity for sometime, the screen stops responding until i close the browser and open it again.
In some of the screens, on Session timeout (i have tested it by keeping the screens idle for 20 minutes), the user is redirected to the login page.
But on few screens, the redirect does not happen. The screen stands still and no buttons links on the page respond to any mouse or keyboard event.
At this point, if i press the "Refresh" button on the browser address bar, then i get logged out of the application and redirected to the login page.
On the browser Status bar (bottom left hand corner of the browser window) a javascript error message displayed as "Error on Page" instead of "Done".
On click of it, following error messages can be seen in the javascript error message pop-up.
Unexpected ajax response was received from the Server
This may be caused by one of the following reasons:
Server.Transfer
Custom Http handler
Incorrect loading of an "Ajaxified" user control
Verify that you don't get a server side exception or any other undesired behavior, by setting the EnableAJAX property to false.
not possible to add the screen shots, else wd have done.
All the pages and user controls in my application follow the same ajax panel structure and loading.

I will tell you how I have done this in the past.
But a button on your page in design view.
Double click the Button1to get an new method in the code behind. In that method put the code you want to run to update the parent grid...
In the page_load add
Button1.Style.Add("display", "none");
Create a javascript method on the markup
function UpdateGrid() {
var Button1 = document.getElementById("<%=Button1.ClientID %>");
Button1.click();
}
Call UpdateGrid(); in javascript when your window closes or when you need to.
I didn't get any requirements for the signature

Does anyone know how or an article that can tell me how to handle downloading for clients of a website of an odd file.
Say heres the scenario: I want them to pull off a fresh copy of the database as a backup file when they visit a page on my website.
Now i now how to create the bak file , but now I need to know what is the best course of action when downloading it. I can create the file on server and Response.Redirect to the file to case the file to get loaded.
What i would like to know now is there a way this file can be streamed directly to the clients browser without being physically on the server drive.
Or is there a way of creating the file and then deleting once it finished downloading ?
Thanx

Odd file meaning a file that is dynamically generated when requested and is not a functional part (what actually make the website work) of the website. a .bak file which is a sql backup format would be seen as a odd field because it does not get displayed it merely dynamic output provided

Can you please read the rest of the text (and title) it clearly states I know how to create the backup as a file what I would like to know is options to provide this backup file on the fly for my clients.

What was said that that is the current option I am using but would like to know if there are alternatives (please read the whole article)

There is no problem I am looking for an alternative, maybe giving the file to the client on the response stream instead of physically having the file on the server. I know of an example where they actually use a technique to stream a file to limit the amount of kbps each download can use.
And please refrain from marking your post as an answer when u are just asking questions

can we add connection string in global.asax???
if yes tell me the sample code....
if no tell me the reason...
|
|
|
|

Yes! you can add connection string at Global.asax.
code of global.asax with Connection String:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
]]>
]]>
void Application_Start()
{
//Connection string for SQL Server with trusted connection
Application.Add ("DB_CONNECTION_STRING","DRIVER={SQL Server};SERVER=ServerName;DATABASE=DataBaseName;Trusted_connection=yes;");
}
void Session_Start()
{
//open connection to database
OdbcConnection cnConnection = new OdbcConnection (Application.Get("DB_CONNECTION_STRING").ToString());
cnConnection.Open();
Session.Add ("DB_CONNECTION", cnConnection );
}
void Session_End()
{
//a graceful disconnect
OdbcConnection cnConnection = (OdbcConnection) Session["DB_CONNECTION"];
cnConnection.Close ();
}

Hi

Well, how do you propose to do that ? Your only bet is to tell your user to take all those files, and put them in a single zip. You can't magically change html, or ASP.NET, or the web, to fit what you wish it could do.

No - it's a single user control that generates multiple upload controls, which is the only way you can do it, unless you do something with an activeX. As the article itself says, an upload control can only manage a single file.

I Agree Christian Graus that an upload control can only manage a single file, but to come out of stuck-in situation its not a bad idea to create a custom control and use it as a multiple file upload control.
