I am using asp.net ajax tab control in my project. I found an issue with it. In my page there are four tabs, each tab contains a list of controls. When page loads, I want to set focus on first tab’s (which is set as active tab) first control. .I am not able to do it either using server side code or client side code.
Following java script code is used to set the focus on page load:
Sys.Application.add_load(function()
{
document.getElementById("<%=txtQuestion.ClientID %>").focus();
});
With above code I got following java script error:
Can’t move focus to the control because it is invisible, not enabled, or of a type that does not accept the focus.
I need help on this.

Hi
I have a number of pages that have gridviews in them and which use different queries. However, in the gridviews I have buttons, which use icons based upon the values held in the database. Is there a way in which I can move this code into a class object rather than having to repeat the code a number of times in each gridview's row bound method?
Thank you in advance.

Sure - just make the control take one of the objects that you bind a row to, so you can specify that when you add the control to a row.

Yes you can have a class that handle the case.
Another aletrnative approch to look would be UserControl. Do the gridview have the similar (or the same) formatting and behaviour? Of course the query as you stated is different. Look if you can create a UserControl then you can use this. In the UserControl class, you can customize anything you want.

Hi
Thanks for replying.
I like your approach about the User Control, because you are quite correct about the controls. They do use the same formatting and behaviour. To excuse my ignorance, do you have an example on how to pass the values from the built in gridview round bound method to the user control and still have the button appear in the gridview as if it is part of it? I am still fairly new to ASP, and I am still finding my feet, any assistance you can give me would be deeply appreciated.
Thanks in advance

I didn't get your question. What is build in griedview round bout method? UserControl is similar to Page. You can handle any griedview events in the user control code behind. Can you explain your question.

you mean asp.net. They are completely different.

Hi
In the gridview component there is a method called onRowDataBind, which is built in method in the gridview. This is where I have been looking at my data from the query to build up my ImageButtons. Sorry, if I confused, by was using the past tense, which is bound.
Going back to my question, in the onRowDataBind method, you have access to all the methods and classes associated with the rows, and where I have tried to say something like e.row.backcolor, this will not work because. So, how do create a user control class which is defined outside of the gridview, I can pass parameters from the onRowDataBind, and can interact with it when a user clicks on the button in the gridview?
On the last part of the question, when the user clicks on an ImageButton, I am using command name and command argument on the buttons. Do these still need to be part of the gridview, because command name sits inside the gridview tag and allows me to know which button on the row the user has click on?
Thanks in advance

If you're storing a file path, then it's kind of trivial, it's just a string. Do you and your 'team' not know anything about SQL ?

Rather than storing file in DB, store pdf file path in as a string in DB and store the file on corresponding location to your drive. While retrieving, retrieve the file path from Database and load the file from that path.

I created a dynamic textbox with this codes below here. However if there are 2 or more textbox, it will come out side by side. Is there anyway to break them apart and put them in a new line?
for (int i = 0; i < textfieldNo; i++)
{
TextBox tb = new TextBox();
tb.ID = "txtChoice" + s;
this.Controls.Add(tb);
s++;
}

Yes of course...
You have two options.
1. Give absolute postioning to your newly created textboxes
(But this may tamper with your design if the users have different resolutions)
2. Create an instance of a Table and add your newly created texboxes in the rows of the table and add the table to the panel.
When you fail to plan, you are planning to fail.

Literal lt = new Literal();
lt.Text = <br />
add this code before increment
hope it will work for you

I guess you don't know anything about HTML. You should buy a book and read it. If you put controls on the page without break tags, not in a table, and no CSS to position them, they will just flow across the page.
You'll find it difficult to access the contents of these textboxes later unless you store them in javascript, or create them before page load.

question that you have asked it self a big topic. And this is not a question.
First of all you need to decide what you are trying to do? what is the recruitment or what kinds of functionality you want provide in your blog? etc.. etc..
When you are ready with your requirement then try to implement one by one and if you stuck then you can ask.
One suggestion, if you want create your personal blog, i will suggest you just create your blog on some free Blog sites.
