You're actually making the call on the client machine, not the server ?
Can you visit the user, or use gotomeeting to reproduce the issue yourself ?

Hi Christian,
Thanks for the reply
Christian Graus wrote: You're actually making the call on the client machine, not the server ?
Actually we are calling ajax from client side to get few information required to send in the request and we are calling this request from the server. So in short we are not making a call from client direclty to the service.
Christian Graus wrote: Can you visit the user, or use gotomeeting to reproduce the issue yourself ?
Can't do that
One question Chris
Can i get the bad request exception at the proxy layer ?
I am suspecting the exception is ocurring here it self Please
Thanks and Regards
Sandeep

I'm not sure, but I'd be doing some checks to see if the AJAX call is failing. I'd also be asking if other AJAX calls work on those machines. Is the AJAX call being made at all, because, if it is, then it's the same server that should be making the actual call, so why would that not work for a specific user ? It's a process of elimination, if it never works for 2 users and always works for the others, I think the AJAX call itself is getting lost or blocked.
You can use www.gotomeeting.com to set up a web meeting where you can control the users machine to try to diagnose the problem.

Ajax call is not getting failed because we are logging the data before calling the service and we see all the right data there.
Christian Graus wrote: I'd also be asking if other AJAX calls work on those machines.
Yes other calls are working one 1 specific call is getting failed

Thats the issue

I can't do that, Customer service will handle that issue. Here we don't have any way to do that but can send a feedback regarding this.
All production issue we came to know from log files which are always 1 day late.

Well, if you have contact with the server, then you have a very strange issue indeed. Can you add a level of logging code to try to tell you move about what goes wrong, then ask the client to make a request to test it ? Can you put packet sniffers on the server to see what calls are made and what data is sent ?

At service server side which we are calling from our web application there is no any information for this request in the logs .
It seems that request is not going at the servert itself.

We have a fairly large project with a lot of roles and a lot of pages. For a time, we've been using location elements in the web.config to manage security, but it is starting to get unmaintainable.
What I would really like is some sort of way that I can authorize or deny a request based on the user's permissions that doesn't involve tampering with a config file. Ideally, this thing should get its data either from a database or by being hardcoded (for instance, it would be awesome if there was a nice fluent interface that I could use for this).
Does anyone have any suggestions?

I'd build a permissions system into the database, which has the advantage that you can give admins the UI to change it. Create groups for your users and apply permissions to pages on the group level.

I guess what I'm stuck on is where to put the code that restricts the user from hitting certain pages. Would that go in global.asax somewhere or out on the page? Or should I make some sort of custom handler for it?
Sorry, I'm a bit thick today.

I would write a base class for all pages, and have a property specifying what group the page belongs to. Then I'd set the code in each page and check the user in the base class.

So once you've payed your way through University to avoid doing coursework, you'll pay most of your salary to other people to do your work as well?
After all, since you won't have learnt anything nor seem inclined to work, you'll have a hard time performing in the real world.

Signs that you're an idiot:
1 - you use 'urgent' for a subject when this both is a lie ( your problems are not urgent to us ), and this will do nothing to attract people who can help with your specific question
2 - This question has NOTHING to do with ASP.NET.
3 - You openly ask us to do your homework for you, and then claim that even though it's part of your course, it 'doesn't matter' if you cheat.
I suggest you just apply at McDonalds now.

You came into a wrong place dear. People come here and share their years of hard word and devotions for technology to help others to grow. This is not a place for people like you who are less interested in learning.
Either you love IT or leave IT...

Is the ServicePath allright?
In Word you can only store 2 bytes. That is why I use Writer.

I found a simple example that allows the user to hightlight a row in a gridview.
The problem is how do I know which row is hightlighted. For example, how can I get the rowindex of the hightlighted row?
Below is the example code I am using from this url.
http://www.netomatix.com/development/gridviewrowselectedstyle.aspx
protected void OnRowCreated(object sender, GridViewRowEventArgs e)
{
if (e.Row.RowType == DataControlRowType.DataRow)
{
e.Row.Attributes.Add("onclick", "onGridViewRowSelected('" + m_iRowIdx.ToString() + "')");
}
m_iRowIdx++;
}
var gridViewCtlId = '<%=ctlGridView.ClientID%>';
var gridViewCtl = null;
var curSelRow = null;
function getGridViewControl()
{
if (null == gridViewCtl)
{
gridViewCtl = document.getElementById(gridViewCtlId);
}
}
function onGridViewRowSelected(rowIdx)
{
var selRow = getSelectedRow(rowIdx);
if (curSelRow != null)
{
curSelRow.style.backgroundColor = '#ffffff';
}
if (null != selRow)
{
curSelRow = selRow;
curSelRow.style.backgroundColor = '#ff0022';
}
}
function getSelectedRow(rowIdx)
{
getGridViewControl();
if (null != gridViewCtl)
{
return gridViewCtl.rows[rowIdx];
}
return null;
}

Have you tryed something like a hidden field to save the rowIdx in clientside and retrieve it in the serverside?

(d.) The login form is Home.aspx
(e.) After login it should go to Admin.aspx
(f.) Suppose the code for accesing the USERNAME field from database is below
obj.dr("username")
1. Give me a SIMPLE code for Login Button Click event
2. Give me a SIMPLE code for SignOut Button Click event
3. Give me a SIMPLE code for Checking whether if logged in during "page load event" of each forms.

Buy some Beginners Book and Read yourself. If stuck then ask, no one will provide you the source code in this way.
