That question I have asked you earlier. you can't open application on client using Process. It will run only on server. You can use ActiveX for that. But it will work only on IE.

OK, that's what we expected. You apparently know next to nothing about ASP.NET development. Buy a book and learn some basics before you steal from unsuspecting clients.
The server is the ONLY place that Process.Start can operate. That's ASP.NET 101. Therefore, you can't do what you want. You CAN put a link to the database as a local file inside your webpage, and see if that launches it OK. But, you can't, you absolutely cannot, use Process.Start to start a process on the client machine.

The error means what it says. You have virtual paths that go above the root.

I have an asp.net application (VB.Net, Reporting Services 2005) which includes a report viewer that displays a client-side report. The report displays normally, but the built-in find feature is not working from the report viewer on my webpage. When the report is displayed and I enter a search string in the find textbox and click Find, the report is redisplayed from the beginning, and does not indicate any "found" text. Maybe I wasn't using the right search criteria, but I couldn't find any reference to a problem concerning this.
The Report Viewer settings from the source are:
<rsweb:ReportViewer ID="IHEEView" runat="server" Width="100%" Height="99.3%" Font-Names="Verdana" Font-Size="8pt" ShowParameterPrompts="False" ShowCredentialPrompts="False" ShowDocumentMapButton="False" BorderColor="DimGray" BorderStyle="Solid" BorderWidth="1px" DocumentMapCollapsed="True" SizeToReportContent="True" AsyncRendering="False" ShowPageNavigationControls="False">
<LocalReport ReportPath="IHEEContractor.rdlc">
</LocalReport>
</rsweb:ReportViewer>
.
I am including Microsoft.ReporViewer.Common.dll, Microsoft.ReportViewer.ProcessingObjectModel.dll, and Microsoft.ReportViewer.WebForms.dll, all Version 8.0.0.0 in the bin folder.
This is due ASAP (isn't it always!?)
Help is greatly appreciated.

I want to maybe get the MCTS: ASP 3.0 or whatever cert. A lot of jobs just say asp.net/vb.net certifications. What can I do to equal the asp.net/vb.net certifications? Is that just covered when I go through the MCTS: ASP.net track? Both the vb.net and ASP.net or do I have to go through both the asp.net and MCTS: Windows presentation blah blah track too?

Certification is a joke. I would say as much in my interviews. People can buy it without knowing anything. Prove that you know your stuff, that should be all you need to do.

Hello All,
Thank you for reading this post. I am new to AJAX development. Here is my situation. I have a masterpage that has 3 image buttons. On clicking on each it should show the content page in the contenttemplate without a postback.So it is dynamic and show the latest and greatest page.So clicking imageA should show pageA.aspx, clicking imageB should show pageB.aspx and so forth without a postback. Ofcourse all the content pages will inherit from this master page. How do i go about it? Code examples/sample websites would help immensely ! please note, i am a .NET 2.0 developer making the jump to .NET 3.5 and AJAX. So a total newbie.

Are you using AJAX, or the ASP.NET/AJAX library ? Do you want to show this new page without a postback, so it replaces the entire screen ? I don't really see the point here. You don't need a postback, you DO need a redirect. You can't help but load the new page, AJAX can't really change that.

hi friend,
i dont think it is possible to invoke content page within content template of the master page without a post back. Content page is seperate page and invokin it surely makes a post back to occur.
I would suggest u to design a page with update panel and wizard control within it. u can place the controls of each page in each tab index and on click of image buttons, just change the active index of the wizard control like
wzdname.ActiveStepIndex = 1;
since all the design is within the same page, u can achieve ur need without postback.
hope it works.

First tip is to no cross post here. Second tip is to at least try something first, then ask questions when you get stuck or don't understand.

Well, this is a very basic scenario to program. I am not gonna give you the code but a pointer to it.
You basically need to list the files in that folder and apply a filter for the xsl files.

No one can create website for you. Use basic FileInfo object to get xls files and then show to webpage using listview or any control you want.
Try it yourself.

Originally, I declared to use mdb for uploading files like the following codes before changing.
//connString = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0; Data Source="+
// MapPath("Files.mdb");
I declared like this for using to upload files to MSSQL :
connString = "Provider=SQLOLEDB;Data Source = db.incheonlaw.ac.kr; Initial Catalog=stanlee;User ID=stanlee;Password=stan;";
After changing codes, there is an error, Must declare the variable "@Writing_Num". when debuging this part, "cmd.ExecuteNonQuery();"........
using (OleDbConnection con = new OleDbConnection(ConnectionString))
using (OleDbCommand cmd = new OleDbCommand(CmdText, con))
{
OleDbParameterCollection pms = cmd.Parameters;
pms.Add("@Writing_Num", OleDbType.VarChar, 50);
pms.Add("@FileName", OleDbType.VarChar, 200);
pms.Add("@FileSize", OleDbType.Integer);
pms.Add("@ContentType", OleDbType.VarChar, 50);
pms.Add("@FileData", OleDbType.VarBinary);
pms["@Writing_Num"].Value = writing_num;
pms["@FileName"].Value = fileName;
pms["@FileSize"].Value = fileLength;
pms["@ContentType"].Value = contentType;
pms["@FileData"].Value = fileData;
pms = null;
con.Open();
cmd.ExecuteNonQuery();
}
How can I properly use mssql???
Is there something wrong??

OLEDB is deprecated you should probably use ODBC to connect if you can (and you can) but more to the point your parameter Writing_Num probably doesn't exist in your command, which you did not provide.

I have configured oracle data reader by following code
myReader = myCMD.Parameters("io_cursor").Value
and checked the following code:
Dim x, count As Integer
count = 0
Do While myReader.Read()
For x = 0 To myReader.FieldCount - 1
Console.Write(myReader(x) & " ")
Next
Console.WriteLine()
count += 1
Loop
working fine.
Can i assign this myReader (Oracle Data Reader) as a dataset or report source to Crystal report viewer.
Since there are million of rows in the oracle table, and i came to know that oracle data reader is much faster then any other ways. So now, how do i assign this data reader to crystal report viewer in web application.
Thanks & Regards

1) I've only used datasets with Crystal Viewer
2) I can't believe you would be generating a report that would be viewed by a web page that would contain millions of records. So I'm skeptical on that point.
Here is my basic framework for generating a report:
1) create your SQL statement for the report
2) create a SQLDataAdapter with this sql command
3) fill a dataset from the data adapter
4) load the crystal report
5) assign the report.setdatasource to the dataset you generated
6) assign the crystalreportviewer.reportsource to your report
Done !
I've left out lots of details, but you should get the idea ...
|
|
|
|
|
If you have a databinder then you can automatically create a dataset with the reader.
However, creating a data set with a data reader will never be faster than using the data reader alone. A data reader is a fast-forward, read only schema blind cursor (Ok, oracle supports cursor definitios) and is the absolute fastest possible way to retrieve non-bulk data from a database.
BTW, Console.WriteLine is slow.
One last thing, with Crystal you should be able to bind to a stored procedure to take advantage of the cursor and not require a dataset. Give it a shot.

First let me thanks to both of you for providing me the solution.
Actually, i do'nt know how do i assign Oracle data reader as dataset / datasource to crystal report viewer; even is it possible or not, i am not aware of it. I have somewhere read that it is the best way to write the stored procedure to fetch the rows and then call that stored procedure by data reader. This is has been done by me; but now how i go further with this data reader to populate the crystal report viewer. Since dataset consumes a lot chunk of memory on serve i.e. adapter.fill(ds); so i am trying to implement data reader way.
I Shall be highly thankful to you for your next valauable replies please.

In the Crystal Report Designer look in the Data Expert and you will be presented with 100's of ways to connect to data, choose stored procedure.
AFAIK, the viewer control has nothing whatsoever to do with creating the report, just rendering it to the screen.
|
|
|
|
|
But my crystal report viewer is on another page and i am storing my parameter value in querystring. So, if i would be able to provide the stored procedure by Data Expert (even this also i have to serach more) then how i will pass these query string parameters to the report please.
