Hi,
I want to replace the wildcard character '&'.
Actually Entering the & as a input in search criteria gives all records.
I want to replace that character so that i won't get any record for that.
I am using Oracle as database.

oracle syntax replace('My&String', '&', '');
C# syntax string newString = "My&String".Replace("&","");

Thanks for Answering, but replacing it in that way it gives all the records from the database.
I have replaced the & by Ascii value of it(&) and its working.
inputSQL.Replace("&", "&");

How do I programmatically bind my drop down list control to this XmlDocumentFragment.InnerXml such that it goes to "Item/Items/Item/" and my ddl gets value from Value and text from Text? Thank you many in advance. ps most examples I have seen are bound @design. The programmatic ones aren't too clear.

You can say, something like:
DropDownList1.DataSource = doc.ChildNodes[0].ChildNodes;
DropDownList1.DataTextField = "InnerText";
DropDownList1.DataValueField = "InnerText";
DropDownList1.DataBind();
you ahve break up precisely at required parent.

I asked the same question about C# and the guys said C# will be around for a long time.
What about ASP.NET? will it be that popular as it's now after 5 years?

All platforms including .Net have the strengths and weaknesses.
I think, Visual Studio is key to asp.net doing well.
The big-picture advantage of .Net( & ASP.Net) is rapid application development.
Ajax tool kit is cream to it.
It has bright future in near year and far 5-7 years at-least.

Are you talking about the .net framework or more specifically the ASP.NET methodology of web site creation.
In my opinion the .net framework is well supported MS and will be with us for a long time still....
As for the ASP.NET methodology for web site creation, well this is still heavily supported by MS however in they own unique style they have come up with other offerings such as MVC (which may not be for everyone) to act as competition. But over all I think it will still be here for a while.
As with your C# question it’s all about support, the MS platform is still the most dominant and as long as MS support the product then it'll be here for some time to come...

hi
my senario is i have one desktop application and one remote service for server
now if i want to connect then i m using http channel with binary formatter now my problem is by using my code i can open one instance at a time for other it will give me error saying
only port is normally allowed....
i want to run mutliple exe or instance from same machine which will utilize remote services on server
please help me ,,

There will be channel setting on remote server as
say eg:
<channels>
<channel ref="http" port="1234">
<serverProviders>
<formatter ref="binary" />
</serverProviders>
</channel>
</channels>
You can specify multiple channels with different port and create/call different instances of required exposed port.

because my senario is
i have one server i ll install my remote service and window application over der
now my client(desktop application) will connect to server using one port i.e. 1069
now i want to give mulitple access (RDP) to say 5-10 users now they all will login and will run the same exe but i think its not possible
i m not sure about it
wil u pls give ur glance to such senario and let me know wht can be possible in my senario
y we want to put remote service and desktop application on same machine and then give to rdp because when users are connect from theri own machine then system is not responding as quick as we have too.

Yes. If web.config file is not there, then the configuration settings are included from machine.config file. web.config file override the settings of machine.config at directory level.
