I am not seeing any need of using XML request here. But the client insist you to do this, then no way. XML request is used to send asynchronous requests to server. We use XMLHTTPRequest object. Try using the code below. It is javascript that sends asynchronous calls to server. First create an aspx page that gets the consignment number as querystring. Then replace the that url in the following script. Still having problems feel free to post your doubts on my website. www.w3hearts.com
function CreateXmlReq()
{
try
{
XmlReq = new ActiveXObject("Msxml2.XMLHTTP");
}
catch(e)
{
try
{
XmlReq = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP");
}
catch(oc)
{
XmlReq = null;
}
}
if(!XmlReq && typeof XMLHttpRequest != "undefined")
{
XmlReq = new XMLHttpRequest();
}
} Use the above function to send XML request and use the below function to handle XML response
function HandleResponse()
{
if(XmlReq.readyState == 4)
{
if(XmlReq.status == 200)
{
FillTable(XmlReq.responseXML.documentElement);
}
else
{
alert("There was a problem retrieving data from the server." );
}
}
}

Can't be done, they are totally unrelated. You have to rewrite by hand.

Hi,
I am having problems with sending files created within an asp.net2 page - specifically I cannot delete a file that was created immediately prior to the current session because it's locked by w3wp.exe.
Some psuedo code might help:
[grab data from POST]
[create a file using the following:
System.Diagnostics.Process proc = new System.Diagnostics.Process();
proc.EnableRaisingEvents = true;
proc.StartInfo.FileName = @"C:\program.exe";
proc.StartInfo.Arguments = commandLine.ToString();
proc.Start();
proc.Exited += new EventHandler(ProcessDone);
proc.WaitForExit();
if (File.Exists(@"C:\Temp\mynewfile.lic"))
{
sendEmail();
}]
[send the file as an attachment using SmtpClient]
The process works fine on the first run through BUT subsequent attemps to overwrite the previously created file fail and of course the first generated file gets sent again.
The generated file can't be deleted because it's flagged as in use by w3wp.exe .
I've done some research into this and I believe it has something to do with session state but my atttempts to get it to work have all failed.
Can someone please give me some guidence and perhaps an example code.
thanks in advance,
Glen Harvy

Hi
I am using ASP.NET with VB as code behind. In my application i hve set the session time out to 70m. So after 70 m if my application is idle the session get expired. I dont want to give any limit to this time out. ie, i want my application to be alive, if more than 70m it was kept idle, Is there any method for not specifying any timeout limit . Wht will happen if we dont give that time out stmt in web.config. pls help me this is very urgent
Thanks in advance

Why do so many write "doubt" when they mean "question"?
micydon wrote: In my application i hve set the session time out to 70m.
70 meters?
micydon wrote: Is there any method for not specifying any timeout limit .
No.
If you would not have a timeout on sessions, it would mean that a Session object would be created for each visitor, and the objects would remain in memory forever. After a while the memory would fill up with Session objects, and the server would die.
micydon wrote: Wht will happen if we dont give that time out stmt in web.config.
You will get the default timeout specified in the settings for the web site. This is 20 minutes by default.

That will be too much for forums.
For connecting DB from ASP.NET page you need the following
1. A SQL Connection String that includes database name, server name , user Id and password
2. SQLClient namespace
3. SQLConnection, SQLCommand class objects..
Do a search with all these, you will get the result.

A wild guess bcs I am not familiar with ASP.NET calendar control. After page loads take viewsource and check how calendar control is rendering. What will be the name of the textbox. Get this name and replace this in the getElementById.

Hi
Just add runat=server to the gridview gvClients so that you can access that id in the code behind file.
Hope you got it.

Hi ritu,
As i told you yesterday
Create a public propery to that user control.
If you dont know search google on creating properties.
and come if any problem arises.
To succeed, we must first believe that we can.

Hi ritu,
in that u store the text box value as a session variable, then u can access anywhere in ur application.
