There are a number of commercial applications, yes. There's also a few free ones that exist as a print driver, perhaps you can automate word to 'print' to one of those ?

I'm sorry, I see ads for them on this site all the time, but I've never had to use one.

I am using GridView control which has checkbox column (itemtemplate) and a dropdown column (itemtemplate). Also, I've set the edit/update property to OFF-as I don't want to update the database one row at a time. (ie. don't want many calls to the database--also its not very user friendly).
I have a submit button on click of which I read the values of the gridview contruct a string and pass it to the database. However, how do i deal with paging? As i move from page to page how would i keep track of what has been updated on each page?

will you please explain your question? do you want to use disconnection architechure and want to keep track of every page?

HI,
I developed one application. In that I am storing all the input data into XML file. Instead of storing into XML file I need to assign all the input data to a "class" and store that "class" into a binary file. And I want to retrieve the data when I required.Is any one having any idea about this.

Well, you can either define your own file format, or make the whole thing serializable, and then store the result. Sounds like you want to go the former. Why do you put 'class' in quotes ? You just mean a class, right ?

Yes you are correct . first i need to assign input data to class and then store that object into binary file.While reading the file i need to get back that class.

I think you need to store it in a zip if you want it to be downloaded without a right click/save selection

That is done by sending the pdf with a content type that the browser doesn't recognise as something that it can display.
Make a proxy page that sets the content type and sends the file as a binary response.

Once you have chosen a calender control, you can write whatever code you like to call it when the onfocus event occurs.
There are lots of these controls on the web.

HElp How to call js funtion on textbox 's on focus event
|
|
|
|
|
onfocus="javascript:myMethod()"
I suspect the javascript: is superfluous. If you put attributes in a .NET control which are not recognised as server tags, they get passed to the client control verbatim.

In my Page_Load method, I open up a text file (which populates an asp:label further down the page - not sure if this is the best way of doing this but anyway).
This works fine on my local machine, however it breaks down when running online:
http://www.sharedigest.com/options/Default.aspx[^]
I have tried fiddling with the security settings of the .txt file in windows explorer (and then upload to server) but this makes no difference.
If anyone has advice on how to get around this security-related problem, it'll be highly appreciated!!

Try creating a new directory inside your app, call it whatever (file_storage). Adjust your code so it points to the new path. This alone may correct the issue. If this does not correct the issue, then I would say something is off with your web.config or the IIS settings.
This is really not the best method or storage option either, you may want to consider using an XML file instead if you do not have any database options.
Also, you can simplify your code a bit:
Dim sr As New System.IO.StreamReader("yourPathAndFile")
LabelSomething.Text = sr.ReadToEnd()
sr.Close()
Always make sure to close the file as well, you may want to implement a try ..catch around file operations and ensure you close them in the finally block.
EDIT - also, if its just the ad words your trying to include on the page from the text file, you may want to build a simple control that you can use on all of your pages.

Hi there,
Creating the directory still doesn't work:
http://www.sharedigest.com/options/Default.aspx
Yeah I was wondering: there's gotto be a more elegant way to include generic pieces of html / javascript / whatever into pages.
Is this what controls are about? Dang I am so new to this it aint funny lol.
Ie. if I have a piece of code, say a small table
... and I want to include that in many different pages, can I do that?
Many thanks for your help,
Gerry

But yeah its pretty worrying that one can't open a file on your own server?!
Perhaps it needs to be in a special folder?
