If you arent already try running VS as administrator, can be done by right clicking on the link or shortcut and selecting run as administrator. I know this solved most of the problems i had running the 2005 version of VS under Vista.
You could always upgrade to 2008 - Even though its only in beta i have found it to be much more reliable than the existing version of VS - and have had no compatibility issues when converting fairly complex solutions over.

No, I can't. Doing dev work with beta tools is (IMHO) the next best thing to "stupid". Besides, I learned from other people's experiences with installing VS2005 beta that it causes nothing but heartburn later on down the road. Microsoft's release code is dicey enough, and I really don't want to add to the "excitement" by using beta code as well.

I know this may sound dumb, but have you tried creating a virtual directory and running the solution from IIS?
I'll second your opinion that Vista is still in a crappy state and that's why it might just be some bug with the local VS web server.

I never run anything from the built in web server ( is it called Cassini ? ), because I've found it's really only good for the most basic of sites. I set up IIS, browse to my site, and attach the debugger if I want to set breakpoints.
And yes, I also hate vista. My latest peeve is that the file browse dialog has a drop arrow next to the file path, if I push it, it shows me a bunch of URLs. How retarded is that ?

John - are you running this as an administrator, or have you run Visual Studio as the Administrator? They are two slightly different things. This failure is normally associated with VS DEV running in normal mode even though you are running as an administrator. To fix this, right click on Visual Studio and select Run as administrator from the context menu.

mi store procedure can be someo

where is better drive my logic in store procedure o in class in .net

That depends a bit on what you include in the term business logic.
Most business logic belongs in the code. Some logic (like for example creation of related records) can be done in the database.
The database should have some sanity checks and containts to guarantee basic integrity of the data in case the logic in the code fails.

Hi,
I have the form contain some fields and one button in master page. I am handling that master page update button click event in my content page.
On the master page I have one drop down list which contain years. After that drop down list there is Update button in master page.
In that event button click in content page my code is like this:
Button_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
If(previousyear)
{
LoadData(Previousyear) -> load data from the database
ShowFormReadOnly() -> this function will set all the form fields as readonly.
}
Else (currentyear)
{
LoadData(currentYear)
}
From the dropdownlist if they select previous years then I need to load data for that year and make the form as Readonly. If it is crrent year only load data no need to make readonly.
Here the problem is once they select 2004 from dropdown list the form is readonly. Once the form is readonly next I select the 2007 from dropdown, It is loading the data for 2007 but the form is still readonly. It is not resetting the form to enable state. We have to enable the form explicitly.
Thanks

Yes. That's because the status is saved in viewstate.

It's working exactly as it is supposed to do.
You could try to disable viewstate for the controls, which will change their behaviour. See if you like it better that way.

Ok now
Take one Button control out side of gridview.On click of button,looping through gridview rows ,find out EmployeeId and attandance value from the radiobuttonList and insert data in the DB.
for example
on click of button
foreach(GridViewRow gRows in GridView1.Rows)
{
int EmpId=int.Parse(((Lable)gRows.FindContrl("EmpId")).Text);
int AttandaceVal=int.Parse(((RadioButtonList)gRows.FindControl("rBtn")).SelectedItem.Value);
}

hi,
I am designing a ASP web based system using VB.Net language, it performs some calculations and should show results, I need these results to be in chart,
How can I do it to have the chart as output of the system
Thanks
There is always something to learn

I guess .NET Framework doesnot have a built-in Chart Component. You need to use some third party component .NET Charting[^] or Dundas Chart[^]. You can either try .NET crystal Report which has a Chart Control in it.

No. your company has to purchase the full version of the component from them. If you want check those components, You can download the Demo Version(dll) and the Sample .NET code from the Website and check whether it suit's your requirement. I have worked on .NET Charting Tool. It's really excellant and powerful.
