This is rude, and against to forum guidelines. Have you read the forum guidelines ?

I guess she's been requested time n time again just to buy a book but she doesnt and keep's asking basic questions. If u really have that much time why dont u add her in your IM and be helpful to all of us. That'd be really nice dont u think

LOL, so why you are taking time and answering to her posts, why don't you just ignore those posts, if you really consider the time ?
Yes it's correct that she's been requested several times to buy a book, If she is not doing so, it's her problem. It's better not to answer such posts which you feel very basic. A forum can't be designed only for questions which is not basic.

yes I have seen that, but I don't like harassing people those who are seeking help, even though they were irritating readers. Because they are not doing any personal damage to us. They are expressing the question in their own way without considering the guidelines. So I used to ignore them than harassing.

...and defending Sonia here, this is not a basic question in my opinion.
You could not find this answer easily in a book. These are the questions that get good discussions going.

You should stop telling her this - you've already pointed out to her she has been mentioned in the lounge suggestions forum.
I wish I hadn't have posted that in the suggestions board now. It was meant to be light hearted, not used against her for every post.

I just had to 5 that. Either she's being superironic in her reply, or she really doesn't get it.

Yea well their point is that we should just ignore her for the future and be easy on her.

I'm trying to figure out how to set data coming back from a database to variables to be used to be displayed on different parts of an web page, not in a gridview or anything like that.
For instance I want the sEmail to contain the value from the Email column in the database and so on.
The other big issues is how to loop through a column and pick out the value out of another column. For instance the propertydefinitation column holds numbers, so if I want to find number 20, and then map the propertyvalue column entry to the sUserPrefix variable as long as the value in the visitbiity column equal 2.
Hope this make some sence. I have been pulling out my hair trying to figure this out .
Below is the code I have come up with so far and as you can see I'm just learning, so any help would he appreciated.
Public Sub GetDataFromDB( _
ByVal sEmail As String, _
ByVal sDisplayName As String, _
ByVal sFname As String, _
ByVal sLname As String, _
ByVal sPropertyDefinitionID As Decimal, _
ByVal sUserID As Decimal, _
ByVal sPropertyText As String, _
ByVal sPrefix As String, _
ByVal sMiddleName As String, _
ByVal sSuffix As String, _
ByVal PropertyValue As String, _
ByVal Visitbiity As Integer, _
ByVal sTelephone As String, _
ByVal sCity As String, _
ByVal sRegion As String, _
ByVal sState As String, _
ByVal sCountry As String, _
ByVal sBio As String)
Dim Conn As String = System.Configuration.ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings("SiteSQLServer").ConnectionString
Dim myConnection As System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection = New System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection(Conn)
Dim mySQL As String = "P4YS_GetBioInfo"
Try
Dim cmd As System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand = New System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand(mySQL, myConnection)
cmd.CommandType = Data.CommandType.StoredProcedure
'need to pass UserID Parameter to the system for the Stored Procedure
cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("@UserID", sUserID)
myConnection.Open()
Dim myReader As Data.SqlClient.SqlDataReader = cmd.ExecuteReader
'Date Returned from database map entries to
sEmail = "Email"
sDisplayName = "DisplayName"
sFname = "FirstName"
sLname = "LastName"
'Search through PropertyDefinition for each of these values and set a varialble to them
'Where propertyDefinitation
' 20 = sUserPrefix and visibility = 2
'sPrefix =
' 22 = Middle Name and visibility = 2
'sMiddleName =
' 24 = Suffix and visibility = 2
'sSuffix =
' 27 = City and visibility = 2
'sCity =
' 28 = Region and visibility = 2
'sRegion =
' 29 = Country and visibility = 2
'sCountry =
' 31 = Telephone Number and visibility = 2
'sTelephone =
' 36 = BIO and visibility = 2
'sBio =
Catch ex As Exception
Finally
CType(myConnection, IDisposable).Dispose()
End Try
End Sub

Has anyone been able to get a Reorderlist control working quickly with a large number of items (more than 20). The control works fine as long as you're reordering around 10 items, but when you get over 20, the rebinding after each reordering gets exponentially large.

Hi everyone
I have a wired problem in my VS IDE when I want to design a web page.In my tool box I can only see the list of html controls and there's no server control available (Reset does not anything to the toolbox)every time I try to reset the toolbox I get an error in output window that says:
System.ArgumentException: Unable to load assembly 'System.Messaging.dll'.
at Microsoft.CompactFramework.Design.PlatformPackage.LoadAssembly(String keycode, String[] directories, String rhs)
at Microsoft.CompactFramework.Design.PlatformPackage.CreateToolboxItems(StreamReader toolboxListStream, String tabname, String sdkdir, String platformID)
If I choose the show all item on toolbox menu context I can see server controls on my tool box but they are inactive and are gray.
I would be glad if someone can help me to solve my problem.
Thank you.

I didn't know anyone used the toolbox, I just type the tags into the page.

I want to create a control that has a header (text and and image background) that when clicked, expands/collapses a body content.
I want could easily create this with two divs(Div A and B) and a javascipt that sets the style attribute 'display' to 'none' for div B wen clicking div B but I want to hide this implementation.
I'd like to be able to use the control somehing like this:
<br />
<MyControl ID="cc1" runat="server"><br />
<HeadTemplate class="container_head"><br />
SomeText<br />
</HeadTemplate><br />
<ItemTemplate class="container_body"><br />
<a href="#">List some items</a><br />
<a href="#">Add some item</a><br />
</ItemTemplate><br />
MyControl><br />
...or
<br />
<MyControl ID="cc1" runat="server" class="container_head" Text="SomeText"><br />
<Div class="container_body"><br />
<a href="#">List some items</a><br />
<a href="#">Add some item</a><br />
</Div><br />
MyControl><br />

Hi,
I am getting this Error: 'theForm.__SCROLLPOSITIONX' is null or not an object. I'm not sure why it just started after the VS 2003 app got converted to 2005.
Anyways i have a asp:datagrid and i made the header column names link buttons so when i would click on them i could sort the datgrid by that column. But now when i click it just gives me that error in the lower left hand corner of the internet explorer page. (The bar at the bottom...im not sure what it's called)
well any help would be great.

I want to delete an item from my GridView (and my database) when a user clicks on my Delete CommandField. I've been told I need to set the DeleteCommand property, but this is just a string. How do you add parameters to this delete command and assign those parameters (namely the ID of the record the user wants to delete)?
|
|
|
|
|
I'm going to answer my own question. You have to set up the data source to automatically generate the delete statements using the "Advanced" settings in the wizard. I'd still like to know how to do this programatically specifying my own sqlcommands and parameters and linking it up to the built in DeleteCommand button.
