How Do I Accept Selected Value From A Dropdownlist?

I have searched the internet on how to code a dropdownlist and all examples happens to not work for me not until i saw an example that really is nice.
My question comes from the example but how do i get to save selected value since the programmer that gave out the example didn't emphasize on that.

Don't post the whole thing. People won't download a random zip file without knowing what's in it.

You have to clear as to what's your problem exact. Don't expect people to download . You have clearly define your problem then i can give any suggestion
