What's "a bridge"?
I use ADO.net to read Excel, but you could also SSIS.

You can automate Excel by putting a COM wrapper around it and then setting a range to the sheet/table data but it gets very slow if the amount of data is large.

Another way is to get Excel to export the data to a CSV file and then import and parse that.

I bet if you look that someone has already built a libary to make life easy for you
