I have a situation where my school wants me to create a client-server application. The problem is, I don't know how to decide which type of programming I should use since I'm a beginner in application development.

Any of you have an idea on what I should use that can help me to develop such an application? Thanks for you reply....

You need to be more specific on this. What do you know, your strengths, your programming knowledge depth, tools/applications available with you for development...
It would be difficult for anyone to answer right now based on what you told.

I'd suggest learning .Net (c#) and Java.

They have a similar syntax and are widely used in large systems throughout the world, so lots of career opportunities.

I think first of all you should decide the topic on which you want to make your application. Then make a rough sketch for it.
And then decide your platform whether .NET or JAVA.
And start maaking your application.
ALL THE BEST...

Do you even know what "client-server" means?
