regarding Nuxeo document management

Nuxeo does not have the folder path in a hiracy format. instaed it has views. I have my own set of folders or view or work space in a shared drive ,and when a different team trying to change the set up of the view, I should not be affected. is this possible? or not? please give me well detailed information why? I need to provide this information to my manager .
