which type of management projects are in hot topic

I can tell you of a few, at least those were the kind of needs in the last 2 companies I worked for

1. Decision Making software, 99% of the time is OLAP, where they can see comparison of sales, purchases, performance of the business units, basket analysis, etc in different ways, by dates, hourly, regions, cities, etc

2. Inventory management, full solution able to help them reduce costs while increasing profit, inventory rotation, detect when they're being stolen, manage efficiently their inventories with LIFO, FIFO and Average methods of costs.

3. Customer Loyalty, how to make the customers come back, full CRM solution able to tell them when was the last time they purchased something, how much, average spending, most purchased items, etc etc

At least these three were the hottest topics in the companies, but I need to clarify that are retail companies
