I need help in developing a small application (project) on java

i got this from my University as a project:

Performance and Security Evaluation of Wireless Network

Description
This project is aimed at helping you demonstrate the performance parameters of a wireless network, preferably for a local area wireless network. Your project must address the performance parameters for a Wireless Access Point. The Wireless Access point plays a major role in adding or removing a node from a wireless network. Check at what level of efficiency such points are operating. Also evaluate the kind of security that is being used by the network at various levels.

This is my first project and i want to know that how will i start coding... i have basic knowledge of the java... but never ever made application in my life.... This is project work i got from my university.... Please Help me Suggest me how to start... should i use netbeans or eclipse..... which is simpler for application development????

Solution 1

No coding for at least 2 weeks - make the effort to define the project.

Software Requirements Specification[^]

Write a project description, think about what to get in the app, what might be in and what is not in.

Solution 2

If you do not know how to start then I would suggest spending some time working through the Java Tutorials[^]. As to Netbeans or Eclipse, my preference would be Eclipse, although you really need to try both to decide for yourself.
