How to detect the Forward Email by programattically?

Hi All,

I need to track the Forward Emails . How to do that.

If i am sending a newsletter to one person means, that person forwarding that mail to his friend. I need to track that friend email or friend system info or any info.

Please share your suggestion here

Solution 1

Various email clients probably generate events when a user clicks on 'Forward' but without knowing what they are for each client, your chances of hooking them and capturing data are small. Your best bet is probably to include a 'Share This With A Friend' button in the newsletter that has a script attached for sending the email and sending you a copy of whatever information is available.

This is simply not possible to do it in the way you want. You can not track if somebody forwards an e-mail. This is by design not possible unless you are working in an over-controlled IT environment. But I doubt even the companies with the biggest security measures have it that controlled...

The only solution you could implement is that you put a simple message in the e-mail that when somebody recieves the e-mail as a forward he needs to click a button to register himself. Better known as the 'Share This With A Friend'-button Roger mentioned :)
