The thought, that somebody, who has no clue about what he does and who can't even google for his hardware's SDK, works on some critical system, like secure payment systems or medical software, makes me shudder :-(

If you're doing this for an american company, start reading PCI Guidelines before you even try to code anything, those are the guidelines for credit cards in the US.
After you understand all the requirements for encryption, transmission, handling accounts, amounts, finalizing transactions, etc then, without knowing too much of what you want to accomplish, hardware you have, software, etc etc etc, either try OPOS that are generic drivers to peripherals in a Point of Sale or contact the manufacturer of the device

Contact the manufacturer of the hardware device. They probably have a free SDK available.
