How can I design a General Ledger in crystal report from sql server database?
I have these fields using vb.net 2008

As shown below, there are 4 transactions for which money was received for specific purpose which appear on the receipt (DR) side eg Entrance fee Rctamt 200 pmtant 0
,Bye-law Rctamt 100 pmtant 0

transno date pmtmode acctno purcode pur rctamt pmtamt
1 16/03/2011 Cash 0001 Ar001 Entrance fee 200 0
2 16/03/2011 cash 0001 Ar002 Bye-law 100 0
3 16/03/2011 Cash 0001 Ar003 Normal Savings 1000 0
4 16/03/2011 Cash 0001 Ar004 Xmas Savings 2000 0

The report should be in a way that each of the above purpose (pur) would now be a group and their amounts will be on the pmt(CR) side and Purpose should all read Cash.
Then Cash should now be a group that will show all the transactions in all the groups with their amounts on tne receipt (CR) side so that the total will be equal on both CR and DR.

AS in my example, 3300

sno transdate acctno purcode pur rctamt pmtamt

Entrance fee

1 16/03/2011 0001 Ar008 Cash 0 200

Bye-Law

2 16/03/2011 0001 Ar008 Cash 0 100

Normal Savings

3 16/03/2011 0001 Ar008 Cash 0 1000

Xmas Savings

4 16/03/2011 0001 Ar008 Cash 0 2000

Cash

5 16/03/2011 0001 Ar001 Entrance fee 200
6 16/03/2011 0001 Ar002 Bye-law 100 0
7 16/03/2011 0001 Ar003 Normal Savings 1000 0
8 16/03/2011 0001 Ar004 Xmas Savings 2000

Total 3300 3300

Yap, noticed. But then again, if that's the way it should be presented :)

His choice. PRE tags would had made it clean and readable.

You should start by researching these[^] Code Project articles.
