You need to deal with general issues pertaining to every enterprise.
Resource allocation - you can borrow a bit from the manufacturing models.
Since a school provides a number of services to it's community - you will benefit from the service industry models.

You'll be quite surprised at how complicated a "real world" solution needs to be :)

One can either design for the real world, or face a lot of trouble adjusting for it later on
