Have you really tried anything so far?

Eclipse[^] is arguably one of the more flexible tools around, and there is a number of addons that extends this environment in just about any direction.

In particular Google Web Toolkit[^].

Looks like the optimum way to start. Well, starting with Eclipse is pretty steep.

Usually you start with Eclipse, or a solution based on Eclipse - or you end up wishing you had :)

I think you need to start by reading some books and basic tutorials on Java.
This would help you understand what tools would suit you best (and eventually help you in writing good code)!
