how to export html table to excel in mvc

I need to export a table of data in to an excel in mvc where the data is an raw html table as we do in gridview export in asp.net web forms.And sometimes I may filter the data accordingly..
Tried hard but no luck can anyone help me out of this..

hi all i get the values ie)required values are binded in Response.Output.Write(sw.ToString());but its not downloaded in my local . i need some help to download that datas to excel in mvc4 technology,,,and the most thing is i have tried all those ways as prescribed ,,
