Once upon a time everyone at the CodeProject were here to share code and to discuss programming as a group of professionals who were more interested in helping one another rather than showing how important they are.

Members using the forums as a way to self-promote, belittle others, or carp endlessly about topics that no one else is interested in and have absolutely nothing to do with software development has been going on way before the rep system.
The overwhelming majority of members do the right thing by their fellow members and deserve the recognition of their contributions. I would not have thought that a solution that involves penalising the majority of the people because of the actions of an extremely small group fits in with your philosophy.

Well said. I started out in the forums as a way of thanking those who I had learned from in the articles. Oh, and to have my massive ego stroked.

Maybe the evolution of the site just followed the evolution of society in general. I *hate* people who keep stating "it was better before", but I reckon that I had to use this sentence a lot recently. I don't feel good about it.

Everything was better before.
Mainly because the memory distorts the truth, things used to be new and exciting, and everyone has a natural (often unconscious) revulsion to aging.
Every man can tell how many goats or sheep he possesses, but not how many friends.

I'm not geting older. I just can't understand why everyone is so damn young these days.

Every 6 months, without fail, since 2000, we have the "it was better before". The conversation is exactly the same.

This may be a little confusing -
I used to have an account with my work email. I disabled that account and went with my personal email instead. I wanted to switch the daily/weekly newsletter emails to my work email and I got an error because that account already exists. When trying to change my old work email account password it said my account could not be found. How can I permanently disable my old work email account, or would I be able to access it again?

Some one marked this message[^] as spam/abusive but it's not. And lost 20. Actually he(Platinum debator) was down-voting my posts regularly(couple of months back) & I think he's back from vacation.
Here my suggestion is Mark the post as spam or abusive(reduce -20) when more than one user reported otherwise just reduce the debator points(which is regular action).

I disagree. Inappropriate posts can be buried within article forums and only seen by the author. I know of several very specific cases where a member went on an abusive spree but only the individual authors were aware.

Just let me tell you that if the one downvoting you is platinum member than it's not the one who reported your post. Your post is reported by a new member. I faced the same thing[^], you see. If platinum member reports your post, you'll get -160, which DD is recently shouting about.

Recently I have updated my CP profile(only About you Tab) twice or thrice. After updation settings(particularly Forums Tab) got reset.
My old settings

Use the best guess
After update - Settings
