Hi Richard, I read a lot of questions, and their answers, as well as articles and Tips/Tricks. Very few questions I see on QA are about JavaScript or HTML per se: references to those usually occur in relation to use within ASP.NET.
It would actually be interesting to know how active the JavaScript, and Web Development forums are in comparison to the other forums.
But, the topic of this thread is the editing of CP QA answers, and the awkwardness of the editing facilities, and looking at answers on QA certainly does not reveal the HTML codes used to create some body-text effect in the answer ... unless you examine the page source in your browser: do you have time to search through all the HMTL in a page source and locate where the HTML is used ? I bet you don't.
So I find this response a peculiar nonsequitur to what this thread is about. This response feels like an answer to a question that was never raised here. But it also has the feel to me of an "innuendo:" if I point out what I regard as less than optimal functionality in the editing facility on QA, how do you then infer that I do not read the answers to many questions, and how do you get from there to hinting that perhaps I am not being a "full" CP member.
This is the Site Bugs and Suggestions Forum, and I am posting what I feel is appropriate feedback about the editor facilities on QA based on many hours of my time asking clarifying questions, posting answers, etc.
I discovered, by accident, that some HTML codes will actually work in comments  Like the codes for bold text.
Let's stay on topic, shall we ?

I look in them whenever I see new questions posted, it's part of my self-learning process. As to comparing them with the other forums I don't keep statistics.

No, I have never done that, I just add some HTML when I want my response to be formatted in a particular way.

I have no idea how you managed to infer this from my comments; all I did was explain one of the ways I use this site.

your message gets stored as HTML, some tags may be refused by CP upon entry, what remains works as expected. So use PRE tags, or non-breaking spaces, or lists, or tables, or rely on the CSS styles that get included automatically...

Hi Chris, No I have never used "MarkDown," but will take a look at it, and evaluate it carefully.

Suggestions:
0. of course the simplest solution is to allow space or tab characters at the beginning of body-text lines.
else:
1. when treat text as HTML is enabled in QA answers, and body text (text outside pre-tags) is selected:
a. make hitting the 'indent menu choice add three non-breaking HTML space characters to the start of each line in the current selection.
b. make hitting the 'outdent menu choice remove three non-breaking HTML space characters for those lines in the current selection that begin with at least three of said characters.
Consider that: when only body-text is selected, that menu items which are not functional are greyed out.
Comment: I've always thought it was weird that there was no 'tab command to match the 'untab command, but if 'indent and 'outdent are implemented adequately, then I think there's no need for either 'tab or 'untab.
It's also strange that you can actually paste Tab characters into the editor window, and see the body text indent as expected, but they are, of course, ignored when the message is rendered in its final form, if the message is treated as HTML. Why can't those working tabs in the editor, be rendered in the final message as a series of non-breaking space codes ?

Not necessarily, since that message was featured as a news item, and news items appear in the Mobile and Web dev newsletters.

I suspect a hash code is stored for each message body, then an index is placed on that hash code. When a new message is created, a hash can be created and it can be quickly looked up in the database. If a match is found for the hash, the message body corresponding to that hash can be compared against the new message body. If they match, it's a copy. In fact, SQL probably does all that hash magic under the covers for varchar fields, so I suspect there's no need to create a new field for it. Not really that mysterious.

I was browsing Toolbar section and a few articles have their images broken. Possibly it was broken during transition to new URL system.
For example Sizing TabControlBar[^] doesn't show image. I did a test and Googled the title of the article to see if image shows up in Google's site Preview. There were two links that I got as a search result. The second (old-style) link to article's comment shows the article with the main image: Sizing TabControlBar[^]

It's been happening for several months now. I already reported it, but it's not fixed. CodeProject is automatically publishing ALL posts published in my blog, not only tagged to be so.
People is complaining about senseless articles published by me, when they were wrongly taken by codeProject. Can you please fix this?

My apologies. I'm spread a bit thin this week so read your message as "stop consuming my blogs". I have another open ticket on blog consumption but won't be able to get to it until at least latter in the week, at which time I'll try and dig in and see what's happening with your blog.
Until that time it's probably safer to stick with keeping your blog offline. Once I work out the problem and add it back, then any blogs you add during that time will automatically be aggregated.
