This solution is predicated on spammers not creating new accounts. They do. Many new accounts.
Measures that make it harder for the general populace to post are no good. Their effect on spam is minimal. Their effect on user happiness is terrible.

After reporting too many posts in moderation, same stuff is still getting through.

Very nice!
(But...why can't I give you "Praise" on this post as a message type?)
Bad command or file name. Bad, bad command! Sit! Stay! Staaaay...

OK, I see the "Flair" on my user page, but is this a CP creation, or is this a more general website concept? (I'm primarily a desktop apps guy.)

The concept is old but the implementation is ours. It's for adding to your blogs.

We did have an issue relating to the display of ratings, but it should be good now.
Please try again.

Yep it shows now, thanks. It wasn't a problem for me anyway. As long as you're aware of it it's fine.

There's no need for this[^] type of comment. The author is here[^].

Shouldn't this be in the Spam & Abuse forum?

It should - I'd clicked the wrong link when I was selecting from the list.

All you need to do is mark the comment as abusive and move on.

You do know that I have the ability to remove posts don't you? If I only wanted to delete the message, I would do that - however, this user would still be able to post abusive content (this isn't the only such case from this user). It's only right that the user should be removed from the site. It was a particularly offensive message and this user has had no problems insulting people based on their race in other messages.

Pete O'Hanlon wrote: this isn't the only such case from this user That, IMO, is the only time you should post in the Spam and Abuse forum for all to see. It would be helpful to also point out that the user has been abusive at other times.

This is an author who is regularly and repeatedly posting abusive and insulting messages. "Report the message and move on" is not an appropriate response. The messages need to be removed, and the author needs to be banned. If he wants to ask for his account to be reinstated, then he needs to agree to stop posting rude and insulting messages.
Why is it that every time someone reports abusive behaviour, you try to turn it into an argument?

By looking at the user's other messages?
Pete is one of the most patient and tolerant people on here. If he reports an abusive user, it's unlikely to be a one-off message from someone having a bad day.

Richard Deeming wrote: By looking at the user's other messages? I see. So each time someone posts that a member is abusive and links to a single comment, that is no longer visible by the way, we are supposed to go on a history finding trip and read all their other comments? If you have the time, more power to you. But if you are going to ask me to flag someone as abusive, support the request. That doesn't seem like too much to ask.

Hi,
I have just tried to bookmark an article written by a member by pressing the 'Bookmark' icon to the right of the article (next to the 'Print' icon). I got no error, but the bookmark does not appear in 'My Bookmarks'.
Kind wishes ~ Patrick
Thank you to anyone taking the time to read my posts.

Was it article or might it have been a tip?
You might have to change the bookmark page to display tip/trick by pressing the button at the top of the page.

Ah ha... Thank you, sir. That did indeed do the trick.
(Sorry for the dumb question.)

Don't worry. I had that issue once as well. And that question reappears occasionally

We need to be able to enter a spam busting mode, where we have checkboxes, so that we can check many messages at once that we need to be able to mark as spam.
At the moment there are 56 messages in the uncategorized forum that takes what feels as ages to mark as spam.
