Hi, I won one of the monthly contests with my article...but I found a bug in it that really should be fixed. CP doesnt allow me to edit the article anymore though. Is there any way this could be changed? Or maybe it already works and I'm just doing it wrong?

When your article was edited you should have receieved an email with instructions on how to edit. Alternatively, at the top right of this page is a menu bar with "Articles" as an option. The drop down underneath it has an option giving info on how to update your articles.

Thank you, and sorry...I really should use the help system more often instead of asking questions

I will inform you, that I get some virus mails in last weeks from sender
webmaster@codeproject.com.
I KNOW, THAT THE SENDER IS FAKED!!!, but may be there are some security leaks in CP, that a crawler can collect many real existing mail addresses, because the virus mail was sent to my CP-only-specific mail account.
I'm not infected, thanks to AVG
Cheers
Stephan

It used to be that the forums would expose your email address to a person you were replying to in the email notification that they received when they get a reply on the forum. It may be that this is how your email address got into "the wild".
|
|
|
|
|
Virus makers often spoof the 'from' address as being that of a reputable site (such as CodeProject). If you look at the headers you will see that the email did not originate from CodeProject's servers.
SMTP is a weak protocol.

We would need some sort of natural language parser for this. Currently one does not exist.

To decide if a post is obscene:
If USERNAME is the same as "The Osmosian Order", say no.
If more than 10 percent of the words in the post are obscene, say yes.
If "sh*t" appears more than 3 times in the post, say yes.
If any variant of "f***" appears in the post, say yes.
... Say no.

Oh come now, you totally deserved that
In fact, i motion for that to be the de-facto response to every single one of your posts. I hereby offer £5 for the first person to reply using that vernacular to each of your future posts.

Yes, I agree. Like those who advertise in their post responses and then claim they are not advertising. They should definately be weighed less.

Dear Osmosian,
having a problem with my plain english ?
you can't compile it maybe ?
did you even understand why i said that ? (i doubt about that, as you never take in account what people in codeproject tell you...)

Should we just be posting up the bug and giving hints as to what the problem was, or should we put an explanation of what the bug was, how it occurs and what coding techniques can be employed to prevent it?

How about two parts: First the bug, in as clean a form as you can so that people can try and guess it, then a litle while later an explanation and solution.
Unfortunately many subtle bugs are too subtle for casual reading to pick up

How about using your famous "expand/contract" plus sign for the solution?

Good morning,
I miss a nice feature knowing from other boards:
Mark an article / message as "watch article / message". It means, if anyone post a comment to an article I want receive an email (Feature exist, but only for own articles). Same is missing for messages. I get only a post, if anyone reply to messages of me. This is very useful i.e. for posted questions on which I have no answer, but which answers interest me, however.
Last point of mistakes (maybe of me).
Count (Filter) of messages per page is a good idea. But it can be better, if a message thread is not broken between actual page and next. If I have "tread view" enabled, than I want to see the complete thread without page breaking. Perhaps it's a good idea too, to filter the count of threads (not messages) per page.
Many thanks for any comments
Regards
Stephan

There does not appear to be a way of viewing your database by reference to LastQueeryPosted by a user, e.g. By Me. It would be helpfull if you provided a link to d so, Some of us cannot allways sit and wait.
Five days after the event, to find back your original queery, hopefully with an answer is a Nightmare under the current system.
