If I am correct, most of the prizes are donated that are given away. As far as the competition, as Chris said, it is meant to be fun. I personally hate Star Trek or any other TV series that has star in the name for that matter. However, I will be entering this competition after my game is complete because I feel it is a fun challenge.

It must be Tuesday, I'm getting
"-- Unable to load messages due to high load or server error. Please try again --"
when I try to get to the Lounge. C# forum is OK so far.
I think I'll try logging out to see if that helps...
Nope, no joy.

Every Tuesday, right?
Something weird this way comes...

Last Tuesday wasn't as bad. Today the C# forum wasn't affected, but this one was (after I posted).

Just took the job board for a test drive and it's nicely done. One suggestion I have is for a search feature (which I'm sure you guys are already working on). In my particular case, it would be nice to bring up all jobs that were open to telecommuting.
Glad to see you guys entering this market. Every additional resource for techies is welcome.

Did you click 'Search Jobs' link at the top right? Hmm - clearly we have design issues here.

Well, one of us has issues, but I'm not entirely sure it's you...
My eyes fell immediately to the Search / text box / drop list for articles, which is above the menu for the job board. I didn't think to look for two Search options on the same page, and honestly, the right menu kinda blended in with the scenery so I failed to notice the search link there.
Your design is probably fine since you're assuming that your users are technically adept and reasonably intelligent. Clearly, I'm an edge case...

You realise that the main search box that's on every page on this site also gives you the option to search Jobs?
Will look into making search/telecommute a feature

Gad, could I possibly be any more stupid?
You know, they told me back in the 70s that some of the stuff I was doing would come back to haunt me...

Now that I've actually seen the search page, it would be nice to have a check box to "limit to telecommuting" in addition to "include" since that's a requirement in case - perhaps others would find it useful as well.

At the moment when you visit a member's profile you have the ability to 'View Member's Blog' and the link refers to the bottom of the page for the 'CodeProject' blog. Would it be possible to have a setting in 'My Settings' to allow the link to refer to an outside source. I know their is the customizeable Homepage section of the 'My Settings', but I have both an external blog and external homepage.

I am trying to understand why I get always three br tags at the end of my sig : Even when I modify one thread, they are back, when I save my settings, they are back. Can anyone help ?
|
|
|
|
|
And now I do not have any sig anymore . I'll blame this one on CPHog. But still, I cannot get rid of the br tags when saving my sig in my settings. Why is that ?
|
|
|
|
|
They were actually </br>, (close break) not <br> tags. I've fixed it and added a bug report

I've been against it from the beginning and I think it's pretty clear the experiment is a failure.
It serves no useful purpose, reduces the level of discourse down to the "grunts" of clicking on 1's or 5's, alienates and angers people when it is misused or abused, has become a kind of game with the asocial and antagonistic and it is more often than not misused.
Just get rid of it, it's an embarassment to this site -- a thorn in the side of this site that really, really doesn't need to be there.
