Quite the opposite. It allows an author to get feedback and to have a chance to improve their article to a point where it's publishable. Once it's published it should be allowed to start fresh on the published version, not the interim version.

My not reporting their article is their chance to fix it. Sometimes, I'll leave a message telling them how to fix it. I never vote an article until it's been approved.

Somehow I ended up on a CP link with the following address:
http://69.10.233.10/
it seems that article links linking back to CP will also contain this IP address instead of www.codeproject.com. I noticed it when I ended up on CP and was no longer logged in (cookie issue?) which confused me a bit. For a minute I thought it was a ripoff site attempting to steal passwords or something but why would anyone do that for CP

Sometimes, I get to a CP article via google, and CP doesn't recognize me as being logged in, even if I've already got a tab opened up to CP at the time.

At the very least they should setup a url redirect/rewrite so you end up on the correct link.

It's our IP address. For some reason Google decided it made perfect sense to index it and rate it (in some cases) above our named address.
Google - can't live with 'em, can't fire them and have another more responsive provider take over directing the World's internet traffic...

1) When you click on the advanced search link why hide the advanced search options behind a Show Advanced Search link? That seems like something Vista would do. 
2) On the advanced search panel can you add a button to auto-expand the Language, Platform, Technology, Audience lists to reduce the amount of scrolling required when reading the available options?
3) I think the majority of the web refers to "Message Boards" as "Forums" now. On this[^] page you now call them discussion boards

1. Because it was a request, and because 99% of our users just want a sinmple search.
2. Not sure what you mean. If we auto-expand won't that mean more scrolling? Me == confused.
3. Does using 'Message Boards' confuse people or make it unclear what we have?

I'm reading up on ASP.NET & MVP and stumbled upon a blog entry which references an article here on CP. However, the article has apparently been moved and the link now results in a page not found. It would be helpful if the bottom of the page not found contained search results based on the url. The offending link is:
http://www.codeproject.com/useritems/ModelViewPresenter.asp
The next thing I did was to search for the page name (ModelViewPresenter) and got zero results yet the article still contains the same page name just at a different location.
So the next thing I did was paste the author's name (McCafferty) into search and it gave me 10+ articles that mention his name but none of his own articles.
I finally had to type in model view presenter to get the results I wanted.

I see many articles are listed twice in the RSS. Currently deleted articles are also showing in feeds It would be good if deleted articles are removed from RSS.

Hi Navaneeth, I haven't noticed any articles being listed twice in the article RSS feed. Let us know if you come across this problem again or if you have more info on it.
But it is possible for deleted articles to appear in the feed. The reason this happens is that our feed is cached for 20 min. So if an article was cached but then got deleted within this time span you could get redirected to a non-existent article.

It's changing my HTML, even though I marked the check box that says I know what I'm doing.
And the last article I posted STILL isn't showing up anywhere except my profile.

Sorry about this John. Clearly I've broken something when I reworked the article permission system to allow you to allow others to edit your article (and can you guess what this feature willbe useful for?)

On my latest article (the one that doesn't show up), I have a gray box centered on the page. I included "text-align:left;" to the style tag for the div, and it keeps getting removed. This makes all of the text centered in the box.

No worries. The site is comprised of thousands of lines of code, and I know how hard it is to test everything in a source base this large. The difference between CodeProject and other sites is that you guys jump right on the stuff that's broken, and pretty much cater to our every whim.
I'm actually a little puzzled about the "who can edit" thing (and if I remember correctly, "Platinum members" isn't in the list ).

I took that to mean "Bronze and above", "Silver and above", etc.

This is correct. I need to update the wording and add some explanation to the FAQ.
I also left out Platinum on purpose. There are too few and I don't want new authors specifying Platinum members and then hassling them when their articles aren't immediately edited and tidied up.
