The ' in "didn't" is actually non ASCII so was screwing up our decoding. I've corrected this and made a correction to the code for the next upload, and posted the comment.

Thanks, but you just discovered another bug (not actually a bug, but I do not have a word for it).
Current Answer1 was Answer2 when I posted this message. It got voted-up and is now Answer1.
So the comment should have been made to current Answer2.
I am correcting it.

After seeing this behaviour I was curious how profile answer links work because answer position will always change.
I just went there and saw that the answer links to the post and navigating to #AnswerNo part is done using jQuery.
May I ask you how this is done? The very first thing that came to my mind was you are storing the MemberName/ID in some hidden field or something (when we are navigating to the selected answer) and check that against the answerer MemberName/ID. And then navigating to corresponding answer using jQuery. But this method seems a little complex to me. There muct be some better way.
I hope I will get an answer.

Just looking at my rep points and noticed that I got -16 points for be being one voted in a Lounge message. Is that correct? Couldn't see how this was calculated.

A 'Platinum' Debator downvoted you!
Downvoter's rep-color plays an important role in upvote-downvote.

In fact that isn't a true.
It's matter about range of debator reputation point of Member.
For instance, I am a Platinum debator but my upvote just gives 10 points to OP.

Hiren.
be good(Help people in CP),do good(Vote if one finds helpful) all will happen good, In case happens bad(You are getting downvote for your best try to help OP) it will be good for later after(Countered with more points by humble member). - Gita sar in context of CP.

Debator up-vote value was recently(after last re-calc to be precise!) changed(lowered) by Chris.
Hiren Solanki wrote: It's matter about range of debator reputation point of Member.
If that would be the case, then the platinum downvoters for high rep people would be easy to catch, don't you think so?
For example:
Digital Man already has 26K debator points. Rest I leave on you to work on....

Ask a simple question...
I don't mind (probably deserved it): just curious as -16 seems a little harsh, no matter who felt the need to unibomb me.

It may be that they didn't realise they did quite that much damage, it's not exactly spelt out anywhere I have found just what points you add / inflict on people.
Real men don't use instructions. They are only the manufacturers opinion on how to put the thing together.

Get use to it. The top heavyweights on this site are able to garner a +40 with a 5-vote and a -16 with a downvote. You will notice that one of these heavyweights is very trigger-happy when it comes to 1-votes. Whats even more amusing is that, as there are not many people blessed with this power, it doesn't take long to work out who it is. Another amusing trait of his is if you accumulate say 7-8 upvotes for one post, he seems to take offence to you gaining this large rep boost, so administers a -16 to compensate. He would make an excellent Traffic Warden methinks.

Assume I'm thick (not a stretch, probably) and enlighten me: who is this person?
Also making me rethink my one vote strategy: seems mighty unfair to so heavily penalise someone, especially those newbies posting articles, etc, that might deserve a one but they shouldn't lose so many points as to deter them forever! A one vote should be -1 and that's it.

Votes and reputation work on volume. Sure, someone can be downvoted, and if an article truly is awful it may be savaged, but generally any article worth anything will have any spurious downvotes balanced out over time. Member reputations go up unless a member truly is clueless or malicious.
As to "the" traffic warden I have to say I find it fascinating the consipiracy theories that are hatched.

Someone of your caliber gives ,I think 5=+10, 4=+10 3=0 2=-4 1=-4.
Surprisingly a 1=2 and 5=4 which results in either a upvote or downvote.
To test vote this message 1 and I will tell you what damage you do.

You are a top man, -16, which is more than Dalek and he has +100,000.
So YOU are the traffic warden.

Well it's wasn't me down-voting myself!
Wow: won't be down-voting anyone, ever again! That's way too punitive just because I want to mark someone down. From now on it's 5 or nothing (except where the post is really (broadly) offensive)
I'll vote you a 5.

Your 5 gives a +24, which is strange as I thought if your downvote was -16 then your upvote was +40.

After recent changes, debator category messages now has +3,+6,+12,+24 as upvotes.

Oh dont worry, me and digitalman/legalalien have been calling each other names for years. He would normally have responded by now with some suitable insult...
(on a serious note its interesting how antisematism is far less acceptable than antiislamism. Even using the word 'jew' as I did got your attention. Would the term 'muslim_boy' have got above the ground chatter? )

Great, knock yourselves out, but do do me a favour and do not use terms that could be construed by a casual observer as racially (et al.) intolerant
Slam each other with what offensive words give you a thrill offline, but if I have to choose between answering the angry emails I get, along with the legal threats, and showing one or two members the door then you'll understand that I have a website, a community, and a business to look after.
This is a website for software developers. It doesn't belong here.
