Something seems to be a miss with the reputation points scoring
I noticed yesterday this user had ~99k but today he has jumped to about ~127k

I'm not disparaging this user, it just seems the point calculations are out of whack. The user only has 16 messages and 8 articles, which are old, not really that great and, in at least one case, completely plagiarized, however, he has a higher score than seven of the current MVPs and is surrounded by users with thousands of messages and Q&A answers.

I doubt that. The recalc might have some bugs, I trust they will be quite subtle, in order to elicit the right amount of discussions in several forums. And it isn't due until last weekend, this weekend, some weekend in the near future.

Yes - there was a bug we've fixed but not yet uploaded. The entire rep points will be recalculated this weekend, cross fingers.

I believe that this[^] article was in a composing state, but it's been removed due to it being reported by users. If an article is still in a composing state, surely you shouldn't be able to remove it.
The author asked for Mentor help last night, and now the article has been removed. This isn't exactly an incentive for people to seek help. Would it not be possible to mark an article so that it's in the Mentor status? Theoretically, you could have it so that once an author is going through the mentor process then it is only visible to mentors, the CP staff and the original author. This way, it's kept out of the way so that others don't have to waste time reading it, and mentors don't find their time being wasted offering advice on articles that get blitzed.

has it really? I just saw it (again) and added a message to it.
if others can vote against it and make it disappear while it is in composing state or in mentor state (if such a thing exists), then that would not be good. Not sure why the moderation dialog should be up at all in either of those states (and I guess mentor state is a specialized composing state).

Ha, that had me fooled. In my world, something that is removed, deleted, closed, ... is no longer visible or readable. I wonder what words they will come up with when something would really be gone.

IMHO, this article should not have been removed. It might have some problems, but its subject matter is unique. There was some comment about it being spam, but that was unwarranted. Pete and I both left messages about how the article could be improved.
Admins, please restore it. Also, please implement some kind of lock to prevent articles being mentored from being removed. I was really surprised this could happen.

I've emailed the author as well. We'll figure out a way so this doesn't happen again. One possible solution is to de-activate existing reports on the article being Mentored. I'm a little surprised we ran into this scenario, however, since so few people can see an article in composing status.

Thanks Sean. I really think that voting should be disallowed when an article is picked up to be mentored. It might be worth having some mechanism whereby mentors can indicate that they are ready to offer their advice, and the article status cannot be changed until a mentor says that they are happy that the article is as good as it's going to get.
