I'm no prude, but I don't think the links here[] are exactly appropriate for CP. As for the name, it's a little too close considering the profile.

Is it possible to make threads collapsable/uncollapsable? You know a +/- thing next to the Thread starter. This will allow the people that are offended by Sport to collapse that paticular thread so it only ever takes up the same space of one post on their screen no matter how many replies it gets.
Surely a better soloution than a seperate Sports Forum, and the endless requests for seperate 'joke','guns', 'ccc' etc forums that will follow if you ever do give in to the sport forum request.

I was thinking of suggesting something like tagging like what we do in Q&A. Allow the author and maybe master debators to place tags on a thread. Then JSOP can set his lounge tag to !sport !ccc !french . Shirley that would work.

In Q&A, there is a finite number of tags(C++, java etc)
For the Lounge it would be infinite(aadvark,.... etc)

Not really. Dad decides what tags we can use, start with CCC sport gun BACON food drink , and any obvious ones can be added at the managements discretion.

Ok current top post in lounge. An Austrian is allowed to have a pasta strainer on his head in his driving licence photo. Which obvious tag do you use for that?

It doesn't have to have a tag, a bit like the jumper that fell in your bag in Primark.

I once saw someone being arrested for shop lifting at Lidl - now that's hard times!

I like that idea, there's certainly a lot of threads (not sports) that I'd want to minimize!

Exactly, it would benefit everyone.

Hey Chris,
I know John nags you about this regularly, but there's cricket coming up apparently and the sports posts have started again in the lounge.
This never bothered me before when I could use "thread view" as I could easily ignore posts with any kind of hint of sports in the subject.
Thread view doesn't work for me in the lounge any more, so now I fear that the sports threads will grow to fill whole pages of lounge posts (on normal layout) even tho I've maxed out the display to 50 posts per page.

Peter, there has been cricket almost continuously for 17 years, it is not a new phenomena.
Why would the boards be filled now?

By the way, all discussion of the India-England series will be in the General Indian Topics. I needed to post todays thread in the Lounge to draw the English members attention to the existence of the FL.
Seperate Sport Forum is not a good idea, and will de-value the Lounge ethos of 'a place that you can discuss anything that takes your fancy'. But I do have an idea that may suit all.

I've posted a reply to you on your cricket thread.
My real problem is that the thread view layout is broke, making it a bit more difficult to ignore the sports posts.
And I wanted to side with JSOP on this one.

I've got the thread view layout working by selecting "last month" in the "show" drop down, so we're all good now, I can easily ignore the cricket again.
