Hi, just thought I'd say good job on the new website theme. Much clearer/sharper than it was. Keep up the good work!

...to see implemented as a "standard", especially since CPHog is not working anymore with the new layout, and me being too occupied at the moment for modifying it:
When I have the number of messages per page set on say 25, and the 25th is not the last answer of the thread, would it possible to additionally display the answers of this specific thread ?
In clear text : do not display n messages per page, but n+number of messages belonging to the last thread.

I've always balked at this because some threads are way too long for this to a sensible idea.
Maybe for the foolhardy I could add a "load the rest of the thread" button that would do this on-demand.

This is a glitch found while looking through the notifications presented on more than one page and deleting some of them.
At least one of the ways to reproduce:
- Have notifications enabled.
- Collect some notifications so the list of them can take more than one page to display. In my observations, 22 was enough.
- Put mouse on the notification number in the right top corner of the page; and then click "View all notifications".
- The above step should cause loading of the page with notification list, paged.
- Below the notification list, click the anchor with the last available page, load it.
- On this last page of the notification list, check the check box representing the last notification, and then click "Mark Selected As Read" button.
- Repeat the previous step until the page shows "No notifications".
- At this point, we already have inconsistency: we still have the list of notifications which is supposed to be shown on the first page (or more), but there is no a page list as well. "No notification" statement is not true.
- Reload the page obtained on the previous step. Nothing changes.
- Work-around: repeat the item 3 again. It will show the list of notifications which were not removed on previous steps.
In my opinion, this is not critical at all, but can be confusing; should better be fixed.

Here's an example of the url to, "Edit.aspx," that CP is auto-downloading (for unknown reasons), which fails to download. Seems related to the Lounge in some way ?
http://www.codeproject.com/script/Forums/Edit.aspx?fid=1159&select=4382785&floc=/Lounge.aspx&action=r">http://www.codeproject.com/script/Forums/Edit.aspx?fid=1159&select=4382785&floc=/Lounge.aspx&action=r
Win 7 64 SP1, Chrome Browser 23.0.1271.10 dev-m
I auto-login when I visit CP, usually by clicking CP's icon that I put on Chrome's "BpokMark Bar," which takes me to the Lounge. And, I do not block any cookies from CP, although I do block sites like lakequincy.com which adverts in the CP daily newsletters link to, because it's included in the MVPs Host file I use.
I use Internet Download Manager (IDM), and recently they achieved nearly full integration with Chrome (they've had it working in IE for years).
So, when the behind-the-scenes whatever in CP triggers that download, IDM attempts to handle the download, and it fails, perhaps because it uses the default username and password settings ? Why that download would require username and password when it's being triggered while I am logged in to CP: well, I don't have a clue, I'm just reporting what I observe in IDM when I examine the failed download's properties.
Since this failed download does not occur regularly, but is occurring frequently, and doesn't seem to affect my use of CP in any way, I am not complaining, or saying this is a bug.
To me, it's just puzzling, and I thought I'd report it here just for your information.
CP is the only site I visit where this type of failed .aspx download occurs, and I use to Chrome to visit many sites that are running on some flavor of ASP.NET.
best, Bill

Hi Chris,
I've notified tech support at IDM about the strange download scenario here.
fyi: since my logging to CP, after a computer restart: in the first 22 minutes of using CP via Chrome, there have been two attempts to download the CP .aspx file: 'Preview.aspx:' both were "intercepted" by IDM, and both, as described previously, failed to complete.
1. the first failed download came from my viewing, or editing, my answer to a QA question: it shows a "referrer" url of:
http://www.codeproject.com/Questions/468282/Accessing-from-User-Control-via-Form"
and an "address" url of:
http://www.codeproject.com/script/Answers/Preview.aspx"
2. the second failed download shows the same "address" url," and, may be related to my creating this post, or viewing this thread on this forum (?): it has a "referrer" url of:
http://www.codeproject.com/script/Forums/Edit.aspx?fid=1645&floc=/Forums/1645/Site-Bugs-Suggestions.aspx
During this time I accessed six different pages in CP: (all times are GMT + 7):
12:41 PM Reply to Message
12:36 PM using CP often triggers download of an .aspx file, which fails to download
12:31 PM Accessing from User Control via Form
12:31 PMLatest Reputation Events
12:23 PM Accessing from User Control via Form
12:22 PM The Lounge
The only use I made of CP, that "changed" site-content were: a minor edit of an answer I had made to a QA question: that was the 12:31 entry above; and, writing this post.Chris Maunder wrote: I'm not even sure where to begin on that one. MAN, that was annoying

There seems to be a lot of enteries for it, but some of the articles are really badly written, (hardly a word) mainly a showoff. Should we let them all pass through or?
|
|
|
|
|
Maybe I'm biased, but I don't see why article standards should be relaxed for a competition.
|
|
|
|
|
I said it looked more like a Tip and marked it as that, but when I looked over at previous competitions, there were some pretty rotten articles, but good applications as winners of previous feature competitions.
But I agree with you actually... Or they could just create an own tag for those "articles".

This article is an entry in our AppInnovation Contest. Articles in this sub-section are not required to be full articles so care should be taken when voting.
We're kind of hijacking the article system in order to create a place to post entries, and we're not asking that all entries be full articles. In some cases members simply can't post full source code, and in some cases the entry is a sketch or prototype.
However, when we judge which articles get through Round 1 we're definitely going to take into account the quality of the articles and the level of detail provided, and once the comp is over all non-articles will be removed.

So does that mean that you can put in a placeholder article and build it up as you get closer to the end of Round 1?

Hello,
When I try to hover the mouse from the red square with the number of notifications to the notifications link menu that appears just under the square it is almost impossible to reach the menu as it disappears again before reaching the menu itself. This also is happening hovering the user name to get into "My Settings...".
Using IE9 and Win7 here.
Thank you!

Works for me in Chrome - not that I use the feature, there are 1541 sitting there at the moment!

You can click the red notification button and get the list of all the notifications. That sould be a workaround if you cant get the dropdown to work.
I also think you can mark off all the replyes as read, if you just select all (button) and click on mark as read. You should have zero messages there
|
|
|
|
|
No, I don't even look at it - since I get all the replies by email, it is just repeating information I already have.
I'm just wondering how big I can get the number!
