It got deleted by one of the admins/moderators. I did get good a few decent answers though. But I just got pissed that someone would actively take the time to be mean to someone for asking a question. And if someone feels that it's beneath them to help a newbie, it might indicate a need to do changes, so the elite don't need to be bothered by the unwashed horde.
I'm not on any crusade, but I see little reason not to emphasize to the community the need to be civil to each other. And as is customary, when one has an issue, one supplies a possible remedy as well.

Hi Frank,
First of all, I am sorry to hear you've had such a negative experience seeking support on CP, which I think is usually excellent, and delivered with empathy to the person who asked the question.
I agree with (what I see as) the "gist" of one responder's comment on this thread: that without at least naming the group where you posted, and got an abusive response: it's hard to respond to this post with any specifics.
I'm guessing your experience was on a specific QA forum.
I also very much agree with Pete O'Hanlon's view that CP really does not need to split any of the support forums into "levels of skill" categories.
You do have the power to vote on responses: to report them as abuse, to vote them down, and to respond back to any response you see as inappropriate, or abusive, or off-topic. Did you exercise that power ?
In practice, in general, it seems to me like the C# language forum ... compared to the C# QA Forums ... is usually a place where "higher-level" questions are asked, and issues are posed, and there is less "tolerance," there, for questions that are vague, don't indicate what technical context they are in, etc.
There has been an issue with one of the most frequent responders on Q&A (and highest rep), going off into wild-tangents, delivering sermons, or lectures, telling people they are stupid, etc. There have been instances of responses on Q&A that "make fun of" the poster's lack of English language skills, suggestive of racism.
Well, that's the real world: some people are cruel; some kind; some like you more than you deserve for unknown reasons; some hate you for unknown reasons; some kick you when you are down; some offer a helping-hand ?
When I am on QA, and see what I think is an off-the-wall response, I usually put in a response on the thread telling said responder what I think is wrong with their response, and I, at times, report these responses as abuse, as well as down-voting them.
In fact, our esteemed colleague Pete O'Hanlon commented here on this forum, some time ago, that he had to leave helping-out on Q&A activity because he just couldn't stand the behavior of one or two individuals.
There have been numerous posts here on this forum, over the last year, regarding Q&A forums, what questioners should be required to do; what to do about people who frequently seem to give long-winded off-topic responses, etc. The issue you raise is not a novelty, here !
But, I think it's unrealistic to expect that people who are busy working professionals, operating on the cutting edge, and with families to support, and deadlines to meet, will have a lot of time to give to answering questions. I think I am lucky (we're all lucky) that such people take the time they do: to respond here, very generously !
I'm afraid you'll have to put-up with the likes of put-out-to-pasture re-treads, like me
I have been unable to help out on QA, which I enjoy doing, for about a month due to an intractable (so far, even with Microsoft's Visual Studio Install forum moderators' help) technical problem that I can't un-install VS Studio 2012, and re-installing my original VS 2010 won't work either.
In any case, I hope you will come to view your negative experience as "an outlier on the fringe of one side of the bell curve" on CP's generally excellent track-record of enabling quality member-to-member support.
sincerely, Bill

It just caught me by surprise - The F-Secure screen was a bit ominous ... but in this case I turned it off for this particular site

This took me forever to track down but I finally did and the culprit was ClassicShell. Several people at our company leave our computers on for weeks at a time. After about a week or so all internet requests start acting sluggishly. After about a week when you first open your browser it will hang for exactly 5 seconds before actually sending your request. Once loaded all internet activity works for 60 seconds. After 60 seconds the next internet request will have that annoying 5 second hang time before anything happens. Only way to fix is to restart.
How do I know it's ClassicShell? Because I noticed whenever this starts to happen the "Up" arrow that is part of ClassicShell's Explorer tweaks disappears. So I uninstalled ClassicShell from one person's computer and left it on the rest. Everyone else continued to have the problem but the person we uninstalled ClassicShell from did not. Believe me when I tell you we have been repeating this test for WEEKS.
I have no idea how ClassicShell would affect that but my guess is the IE9 part of it. We all have IE9 but even if we use FireFox or Chrome we still get the 7 second hang time. I wish I had more to tell you to go on but I don't. It took me forever to track this down and I am confident it is ClassicShell that is the culprit. PLEASE can you look into this? I really don't want to uninstall ClassicShell but I might have to. Thanks guys.

When we paste a hyperlink in forums it auto hyperlinks along with a new window tab. Why isn't this feature available for commenting in Quick Answers section?

You've been testing markup on the production server again, or some strange markup has crept into one of the answers! This response contains the bulk of the page http://www.codeproject.com/Forums/1725/Database.aspx[^]

The problem appears to be in kankeyan's post[^]:
select*from <Table Name> for xml path (
<br />
select*from <Table Name> for xml path (
<br />
select*from <Table Name> for xml raw<br />
<br />
try like this there are more formats<br />
The browser is seeing the three <Table Name> instances as the start of a new table, which is messing up the forum table.

Today, I got wrong message from system.When I submit my answer it says that "We have tried to add your answer 3 times without success. Our servers are just a little overworked. Sorry" with red words on the top. Then, I resubmit it again, I thought I have not submit my answer, while after I submit it,there are two same answer below the question. So I have to delete one, such a thing happens not once? I think it is better to be solved.

I believe it would be nice to make article competitions a little bit more visible. Rather than drilling through some menus to get to the competition page and then click other not so visible links to view the winners is not the best experience. Maybe it would be possible to have a direct link somewhere in the home page, somewhere on the right sidebar (maybe below the Product Showcase?).
It would also be nice to have a notification on an article selected in the competition during the voting period. On top of the article could be a note "this article is nominated for the XXX category in the monthly competition". And there should be a button there that takes you to the page where you can cast your vote(s) in the competition. That would increase exposure and enable more users to vote in the competitions. Of course, the more votes, the higher the probability the best article wins.

Hi there, After several years working perfectly, this last year CodeProject keeps consuming articles by mistake from my blog (they are not marked to be consumed). In fact, the are not related at all to technology, and sometimes they are not in english.
I have tried to delete them manually with no success. The deletion process goes well, and it says that the article was successfully deleted, but it's still there.
What can I do to delete them permanently, and to avoid wrong consumptions in the future?
Thanks !

Sure,
The blog itself should be consumed, that's working fine. But only certain articles are marked to be pulled by CodeProject, and it's pulling others without the mark. For example this one shouldn´t have been pulled:
http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/483477/Deplusradares-2cplusyplusotrosplussinsentidos
This has been working great for years. Only those articles I marked with the "CodeProject" tag were being pulled. But now it sometimes fails...
Besides that, I cannot manually delete those articles. The one above, for example.
Thanks !!
