Ah, OK. I get it.
I'll add this to the TODO.

When copying a blog post, the copied post at CP still refers to the pictures of the original article. So, if the original blog is down or the url of the page and images have changed then the article will still appear on CP but without pictures.
The suggestion is to also copy the pictures.
Make it simple, as simple as possible, but not simpler.

I don't know why, but everytime I try to add a file to the article I get the error "Unexpected error during upload. One or more files may not have been uploaded".
In addition, the "Add File" button is still there, but clicking it and selecting the file again gives me a "The file has already been selected" error. There is no where to re-attempt to upload it. The only way to get to try to upload it again is to check the "Work in progress" box, check the contributors agreement, save the draft, and then open it back up again. (Repeat at the top of this message).
I've uploaded files before and had the same issue (eventually it worked), but for some reason this time it won't let me upload (they are jpg files, 27kb each, and 2 of them), tried about 3 times.

|
|
|

That seems to be a common problem with the system. Anything you upload will give an error, AFAICT.

We're currently working on an improvement to the upload system.

Whenever I go to the quick questions I see that there are only 5 languages featured there.
Please include more languages in the featured section.
For example to look for anything related to python I had to run a search. This is annoying.
It also discourages newbies (on code project) form exploring the other great languages and their cool feature.
I think this undermines the purpose of CodeProject.
Please feature more languages.
(If not all, at least the most promising ones like Python.)

There are already tags in QA for python - in fact there are generic "Python" and also separate tags for each version.
The lack of questions about it it not a reflection of the site, but a reflection of the number of python users who ask questions...

No, I am not talking about lack of python questions. I am saying the lack of quick access to the articles/questions that are already present.
What I am saying that is, as there are links for quick questions in C# (in the quick questions menu), similarly there should be quick links to all the major programming languages. My suggestion is that CodeProject should include menus for these languages too. This will surely also result in increased amount of articles, questions and discussions about them in the long run.

Anshu Krishna wrote: This will surely also result in increased amount of articles, questions and discussions about them in the long run. I doubt that. I don't even notice the ones that are there now. I do agree that it is a little cumbersome, especially for new members, but there are so many Tags that selecting which ones to put in the menu is bound to cause a heated debate.
You don't need to do a search, but you do have to go to Quick Answers, hover the mouse over the Tags box, select "more..." and then pick what you want to look for. Here is your Python link:

But there is no Tags Box in the Quick Answers menu.

You can see the location of the tag box on this image:

I can see how making use of the Tags may not be obvious.
Since a tag selection runs a filter based on that selection, perhaps it would be more clear if that selection was directly placed beneath "Your Filters" as a selected Tags field.

This list of tags is auto-generated based on the current popular tags

Presumably as a result of Protector and / or Mentor status, I have permission to edit pending articles. So I did. At the OP request, I edited this one: http://www.codeproject.com/script/Articles/ArticleVersion.aspx?waid=22830&aid=416453[^] and sorted out the fonts for him.
But when I go to save it, I get "forbidden", which is a touch irritating after I've done the work!

No problem! Out of interest, which way will it be fixed? "No edit", or "can save"? Don't mind which, but it'd be nice to know.
Gawd this site is getting seriously complex! I suspect you wake up nights sweating at the mere thought of a complete re-write...

Fixed. The issue was that it was not allowing you to send a confirmation email. Your edits were actually getting saved. You can now email as well.

That would assume I get to sleep in teh first place.
We are, as a matter of fact, embarking on a full rewrite. Yes, we are masochists, but there is a method to our madness that will become apparent over time.

Sometimes, it's the only sensible thing to do. Throw it all away and do the job from scratch!
It saves so much pain in the long run...
Hell of a job though - hope it goes well, and you all get some time off this summer.

This is a known (and rare) issue that I will be continueing to fix this weekend. Thanks for letting me know.
(Background: links between articles and files was screwed up a long time ago. I have a full fix in the form of a utility that goes through and cleans it all up, but I'm being cautious in applying this fix, hence the delay)
