I see you have added the Linked-in Account login mechanism, but that wasn't what I meant in the original post.
What I was referring to was the 'Follow On' links at the bottom of the bio section on an authors article e.g. at the bootom of this A Coder Interview With Dave Auld[^] you can see the Follow on links to Twitter and G+, which is of course picked up from the 'My Settings | Professional Profile | Social Networks'
I think LinkedIn is a key professional connection point.

Question something says if Yes give reason, but you have to give a reason even if answering No.
Question 6 says how easy is it to do something I hadn't done, but there was no way of skipping the question or answering 'I haven't done this'.

Chris,
Thank you for the topic history. I was sure that this had to of been brought up before.
I read the original argument against it (11 yrs ago) and can see where if the original poster has the power to move a thread that it could be abused.
I like the method you proposed in the third link.Quote: I still like the idea of a third option on the report flag. Wrong forum or something, select it, choose a better forum, 5 agree and off it goes. However, I can see where mischievous members could abuse this system by bouncing a thread all over the place. Perhaps, these move requests could just be flagged for review by certain respected members to authorize?
I think that such a feature should also include a message sent to the OP about the move and include a review of the posting guidelines.

Indeed, that's the beauty of being users of this site and not the coders.
We just have to come up with half-assed ideas and then let someone else worry about the intricacies and application of the good ones.

I may be wrong, but isn't the removal of a message by members whose reputation reputation level was >(some magic number) the reason for this discussion?
A system such as this needs some checks and balances. Does voting for a thread move that is later deemed inappropriate incur a penalty to those voting for said move? Say a loss of half their reputation points.

TnTinMn wrote: Does voting for a thread move that is later deemed inappropriate incur a penalty to those voting for said move? I wasn't advocating voting. I think that complicates the issue - a simple "Move Thread To Another Forum" link would suffice. This is how some other functionality (available to high-rep members) works.
The system would also need a "CantMovePost" bit in the database. If Chris think a thread was erroneously moved (with the best of intentions) to forum "X" instead of forum "Y", he could simply reposition it and mark the thread "no longer moveable".

We already have that feature. The trick is we just need to expose it to more members.
This touches on a deep but important thing I've been skirting around: allowing high rep members to edit / delete questions in the forums in exactly the same manner as in Quick Answers.
It will happen.

Guys and girls - please get the advertisements sorted out. They keep showing me adverts for Wonga.com. I have many, many reasons not to want to see adverts from companies who have interest rates that would even make loan sharks think twice. Please, for the sake of my sanity, get it to stop.

I am seeing ads for World Globes (I did go to their site to look for a globe for my father). And furniture. And some various other things.

All I can think is that it's using Google at the backend and picking up on my association with NUFC (sponsored by Wonga).

Wonga adds are everywhere at the moment.
I downloaded a new free Twitter client for my Android last week, fired it up and first thing to pop up was a Wonga ad. Uninstalled and let the publishers know why.
I doubt it is anything to do with the Toon, just a UK wide assault.

I have submitted a new Article of type Reference
http://www.codeproject.com/Reference/632333/HIPAA-Securing-an-ASP-NET-Website[^]
It is reviewed/edited and finally published, i can see that on the homepage of CodeProject (may be for a while), but when i visit my profile page i don't see it liked to my profile under contributions. How would someone know what Reference Articles i have created.

You can select the number of posts to show on each page in a forum.
Now, I'd really like an option to deny the cutting of a thread in half.
Meaning:
If the page should show 50 posts and the thread starting on after post 47 has 6 posts, then I'd like the page to either show 54 posts or only the 47.
That's usability top notch!

That means of course that they don't exist.

And what happens when you get an exceptionally long thread? I'm sure there have been threads in the Lounge which contain many hundreds of posts; if you try to load the entire thread in one go, you could end up crashing the browser.

Cut at MAX_LENGTH ... (in 99.999% of the cases a thread will not top 50 ((Nagy's Xo)+1) messages)
* So practically MAX_LENGTH of say, 100((Nagy's Xo)+Yo) will cover anything but conversations my wife has with her sister.
It is a paradox that paradoxes would actually exist in reality.
That means of course that they don't exist.
However, they do!

Threads regularly break a page. I can't be elephanted to trawl back, but at least weekly a thread breaks 50 posts. 99.999% that is not.
