I'm not sure the weight factors there are positive...

Yeah, I really should stop posting inane crap in the main forums.

my permanent suggestion: avoid unsorted lists, in particular list the MVP's in alphabetical order, that makes it a lot easier to browse.

That's what I noticed too.

I would suggest that they do have an order, just not an alphabetic one.

So you want me at the top? Thanks!

I think 'want' might be putting it a little strongly.

the CP Newsletter has them in ASCII-like case-insensitive alphabetical order, and puts you at #11. Which is fine by me.

your observation is correct and fu

The order they're using is called "random". It changes from time to time for no apparent reason.
".45 ACP - because shooting twice is just silly" - JSOP, 2010 ----- You can never have too much ammo - unless you're swimming, or on fire. - JSOP, 2010 ----- "Why don't you tie a kerosene-soaked rag around your ankles so the ants won't climb up and eat your candy ass." - Dale Earnhardt, 1997

They are in order, just not in an order that makes sense to anyone not looking at the actual data. I'll do an update that orders MVPs by seniority.

As Henry already pointed out, they are bound to have some order (you don't do random on purpose, do you?). I recommend you apply the ordering that makes most sense. Checking the list to see if a particular person is MVP or not seems the likely candidate, that is why I suggested alphabetical.
FWIW: I tend to order my lists either alphabetically, numerically or chronologically (whichever makes most sense) unless there is an overwhelming other criterium.

As do I.
In this case, members were actually being listed pseudo randomly because the system used for listing them typically expects only a single entry. For the MVP awards I awarded 40 members the same prize level ("MVP") for a single compeitition ("MVP 2011") so there was a breakdown. Adding an extra sort field for this situation has fixed it (locally, at least. Will upload later this week)

I was on CP last night using my mobile and came across a few issues;
1) Clicking the 'Help!' menu item, gives you no main body content, just a 'Last Updated 4 jan 2011.....' footer
2) Clicking 'Features' menu item, highlights the menu item, but does nothing else.
3) In articles, there is no way to vote on an article, need to switch to 'Full Site' from the top banner if i want to do that.
4) In any messages, again no way to vote, need to switch to full site to vote on a message
5) Once switched to 'Full site', can't switch back to mobile view, need to come out of the browser, clearing the cache and then go back in.
This was on an HTC (Nexus One running android 2.2.1) running Dolphin Browser HD V4.2.0, and same things noticed when tried the inbuilt browser.
Switching to full view isn't an issue if i want to vote etc, but certainly being able to switch back to mobile view more easily is!

1 and 2 I've fixed, ready to be uploaded.
3 and 4 are by design. I'll change this.
5. I've added a link to get you back to Mobile

Using IE7:
Adding/editing a comment in Q/A causes answers that follow the one you're commenting on to overlay the comment edit box buttons. I can still click the buttons, but just barely. A page refresh fixes the layout until you edit something again.

I downloaded Chrome (8.0.552.224) this evening and have been getting a feel for it. I noticed that whenever a link is pasted in a post, it gets bracketed by href in FireFox, but that is not happening in Chrome. What should I do?

OK, now how about that solution I am looking for?

OK, you want the long answer:
it either works or doesn't work. If it doesn't, there isn't anything we members can do about it, but report it (as you did) and wait (for CP to get fixed or Chrome to get fixed, whichever applies). So don't hold your breath, move on. Hence: use FireFox. Or IE if you must.
