It's no bug, it was an Independence Weekend gift from Chris. I'm loving it, I got +20,000 and I've moved [for now] upto #50 in the who's who. Not that I care.

Which is ofc why you're so aware of what the change to your rep and ranking were....
3x12=36
2x12=24
1x12=12
0x12=18

Would it be possible to show/hide the rep display in the top right according to a toggle in the account settings? That could save a lot of the discussions on rep points and would allow those who don't care to hide it.

It's easy enough just to ignore it. It's in a fairly inconspicuous location as it stands.

Okay - we get it. You're over 50K.

I'm not even half that score. Actually, I lost points in this re-calc event. Go figure.

Finally, somebody picked up on the subtle hint. Were you a winner or loser last night?

Does it matter?

For points earned for articles and answering questions, Yes.
Also, for others it is interesting to note how the heaveyweights in the top 5 or ten are fairing. I, personally am interested in knowing if anyone gained more than DD (94k).

Suffice it to say that the "heavyweights" are still heavy - some heavier than before, some not quite as heavy.
Current tally:
400+ 1
300+ 3
200+ 7
100+ 23
50+ 55
<50 7,924,530
Since I don't track other people, I don't know how much everyone else gained or lost. I was running my own contest with myself, trying to get my authority score higher than my debator score, and was within 3000 points of doing that, but with the points adjustment, it ain't gonna happen for a LONG time (years) because the separation is about 60K points now. As far as changes for me, I gained about 72,000 points - mostly in the debator category.

You earnt more in one night than I have in my entire life. I think the Lounge Lizards gained most, which is why Sascha has dropped.

Yes I do wonder if they time it to cause maximum amusement to themselves.

You're trying to make it more important than it is.
Sacha doesn't care about his rep points. Nobody but you cares about yours.

What would save a lot of discussion would be to remove rep points completely.
Just to start a new discussion...

I wanted to give you a five for your comment, but than I realized, you don't care about rep points; also it would give me 1 point for upvoting you, which I don't care for, so instead I had a beer in the bar on the other side of the road. Now I am back in m office, and already have a craving for another beer.

This is surprisingly happened with me on last night at codeproject.com.
Yesterday i leave office at 7:30PM (indian time) at that time my Reputation Points was 35000. and right now i logged in (05-July-2011 11:00 PM) and the Reputation Points are just 20102.
I was shocked and very disappointed for that even i confirmed there is now negative point in my history, so how is this possible on codeproject.
Before 12 hours (Total Reputation Points was): 35000
Total Reputation Points: 20102 http://www.codeproject.com/Members/Sunasara-Imdadhusen
Reputation Points History: http://www.codeproject.com/script/Reputation/List.aspx?mid=5038017
Please show me where are i lost my 15000 Reputation Points?
Seeking for your co-operation
Thanks,

The main rep point adjustment seems to be around the download points for article attachments. the points were changed from 5 to 1 the other day, and chris was doing the recalc last night.
However, i have also noticed an increase in debator points as well, to the net result i am up overall around 8,500
Have a scan further down this forum, I think there are more messages about it.
Also, go to your member profile, click the reputation tab, and there are details of what changes have been introduced.

Yeah, I was particularly upset with my 90K uplift.
