When using the code button to add <pre> tags around a block of code, the page jumps back to the top rather than remaining positioned where the tags are inserted.

Should be good now.

I could last week, but suddenly I can't remove email addresses and so forth in the forums.
Is this by design, or a recent bug?
Bad command or file name. Bad, bad command! Sit! Stay! Staaaay...

Addendum: I can't delete either.
This message: The Lounge[^] came up twice in moderation, so I had to let both through or confuse the automated system (and possibly give the OP a kick as a spammer, which he isn't)
And I can't delete either of them.

But I can see only one message...
Skipper: We'll fix it.
Alex: Fix it? How you gonna fix this?
Skipper: Grit, spit and a whole lotta duct tape.

There were two - it's possible the OP deleted one of them.

Bug or not, but I'm affected as well.

This will be back in a couple of hours.
Sorry about that: some maintenance (read: refactoring with extreme prejudice) has been going on and bits and pieces have been disconnected and plugged up while we address the bleeding.

I think something is wrong with the "spam and abuse" mechanism that a link to, and explicit discussion of, sexual practices involving insertion of devices into orifices is left up on the Lounge, after I, and I assume others, have reported it. In fact, I wouldn't want to see it on the SoapBox, either, although the tolerance there for "smut" is, perhaps, a fact of life.
thanks, Bill

We try to make the latter into warnings or, better, errors. The spam and abuse filter has no morals: it merely categorises text based on a yes/no history of previous text.
I've moved the offending post.

Thanks, Chris, I meant to refer to the process (whatever that is) of reviewing messages after they are reported, which, I assumed, is done by folks on the spam and abuse forum.
cheers, Bill

I've just edited a question at 21:39 BST / 20:39 GMT. My settings are set to GMT with DST. And yet the revision history[^] tells me that I edited it at 16:39.
Unless I've accidentally turned my computer into a TARDIS, something's going wrong somewhere.

I looks like you're doing a sh*tload of stuff in Quick Answers at the moment. Here's another thing to add to your list.
I just tried to "Improve Answer", and once submitted, it chopped of half of the original answer. No matter how I tried to improve it, it would not put it back. I ended up deleting and resubmitting from scratch.
Cheers,
Mick

That's not good. If you can replicate it then let me know.
I have a suspicion, though. Did it contain HTML that wasn't HTML encoded?
Our new HTML Sanitiser has no mercy - none - and I need to tweak it to be a little less agro.

There is still another typo in the same one. The questioner has already acknowledged the answer, so I'll pop in there now and see what happens. The entire response is in a <pre> block.
Cheers,
Mick

OK, it DID do it again. But it had unencoded generics brackets (<string>) in it. Once I encoded them, it updated OK.
If you want something to test it all with, the answer is here[^] - just unencode the <string> and you should be able to reproduce.
Cheers,
Mick
