Unable to create virtual directory couldnt find the server

Hi all, I'm following a tutorial to create an ASP project, in it the author says instead of using iisexpress you can use a local IIS if it's setup ( mine is ) but when I go to the project properties and select use local IIS and click on create virtual directory I get the error shown in my question subject - I've googled but can't find a solution

What I have tried:

Googling and head butting my pc

I'd suggest creating the site in IIS first.

Thats what I've done now Ryan - bit misleading in VS though

There is step how to Create a Virtual Directory (IIS 7)[^]. See and apply the steps in your machine. And Make sure IIS is also enabled in your machine. If not, see how to enable IIS in your machine. How to: Enable Internet Information Services (IIS)[^]
