You want to use Matlab for an acoustic underwater sensor network?

For self powered underwater sensors low power is essential. Therefore, they usually use micro controllers.

You may have a look at OGC PUCK[^]. It is a serial protocol for oceanographic instruments which might be also used with acoustic communication.
