what SDK/ IDE s are there to develop android apps

im using visual studios 2015 proffesional - i installed xamarin but its an expensive program , i dont mind paying if i know i can make something off of it , so at the moment im looking for a free program that allows me to develop / play around with/on andriod :) thanks in advance

Solution 1

Then go for Android Studio[^]. You can get the SDK and IDE from here[^]
Second option is, Eclipse[^]

just another question , android studio? is it for c# or java? bcoz so far all tutorials ive seen of c# leads to xamarin for some odd reason??

It's for Java, and if you want to developer your application using C#, you can switch to Xamrin.
