Object reference not set .. in Sql server 2012

I am getting error "OBJECT REFERENCE IS NOT SET TO THE INSTANCE OF THE OBJECT" in message box while i creating a New query window in Sql Server 2012.

Please any body help.

It seems like an installation error...check it and consider re-installing SQL...

some time back had working but now i m getting error. Please let me know if any idea we can remove this error because i cant get the backup to our db.While i getting a backup then again n again sql server restart.

Can you access the server from other applications (not Management Studio)? If you can it's not SQL's wrong but only the Management Studio went out - re-install only that part...

I have ran repair option already done. But error is still coming.

Is .Net 3.5 installed? I saw that same error happening after .Net 3.5 was removed from a server.

But earlier how was the work. Now installed .Net 4.0 in my PC (visual studio 2012)

and .net 3.5? .Net 4.0 is not an upgrade from 3.5... As far as I know SQL Server uses 3.5 not 4.0, so you must have 3.5 enabled even if 4.0 is installed.
